Good Afternoon RPEL Families,

We are entering week five of the school year. It has been a pleasure getting to know your children. They all are working super hard and they are all settling in for a great year of learning. It is going to be an exciting school year!

Please read the section that highlights the known changes to our lunch and breakfast menus for the week and the message from our food service director.

Our school office is open from 8:00-4:00 daily. Please call our office 744-4777 with any questions.

Breakfast 9/28: Blueberry pancakes instead of apple

Breakfast 9/30: Plain bagel instead of cinnamon raisin

Lunch 9/27: Breaded chicken sandwich instead of hamburger

Lunch 9/29 - Waiting to see if croissants are delivered. If they don't come in then it will be a ham/cheese sub instead. With baby carrots instead of cucumber.

A Message from the Foodservice Director:

Menu Changes & Supply Chain Disruptions

I hear you and I share your frustrations regarding menu changes. Unfortunately, the changes are not due to my own decision, but rather an inability to obtain the product that is originally on the menu. We are experiencing extreme supply chain disruptions, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get the items needed to follow the menu. I notify principals of any menu changes as soon as I am aware of them; please check weekly communications from your building for the most up to date information regarding the menu.

I wish I could say it's going to get better soon, but from everything I have been hearing and everything I have been experiencing, it may even get worse before it gets better. A few manufacturers just announced that they are suspending production of entire product lines until January 2022. I appreciate your understanding as I work through these challenges. We have been experiencing a high volume of phone calls to the office at the end of the day for early pick ups and ride changes. It can be very difficult to get to all of these in a timely manner. Please try to have your transportation set for the week. Also remember that our school day ends at 3:45.

We have five lunch monitors that supervise our lunch in the classroom program. Each monitor follows the same schedule each day. This has helped these individuals get to know our students. Many of our monitors are familiar faces to many of our students, three of the five monitors are also our school bus drivers!

Great News! All students can receive free breakfast and lunch.

Parents - our lunch in the classroom is monitored by our classroom lunch monitors. Our monitors are employed by the school district.

Parents,

A new and exciting opportunity is coming your child's way this year at R-PEL! We will be sharing digital reading calendars every month. This calendar will include simple, fun activities to engage your child and boost their reading time at home. The calendar will include links for certain activities and a form to fill out at the end of each month to let us know which activity they enjoyed the most. Names of students will also be drawn for prizes along the way! Let's get started with our September calendar! Have fun!

What is Blast Off?

In this annual collaboration, the R-PHS choir and theatre students run a weekend series of workshops. Modeled after the world famous Young Americans’ workshop, this event offers students in 2nd through 9th grades a chance to meet, rehearse and perform with our top high school performing groups.

Reeths-Puffer Play and Learn is happy to be offering in person play and learn and take and go book kits this year.

Troops are forming for all girls who are in K-12! Cost to join is only $25 and financial aid is available (new troops may charge nominal dues for supplies).

Arbor Circle is excited to announce our next 10-week session of the evidence-based Nurturing Parenting program. This program will be held virtually through Zoom. Please see the attached flyer for pertinent information.

They must be worn on the bus, in school and in the classroom. There will be mask breaks during the day, including recess and when eating breakfast and lunch. Please send your child to school with one that is fun to wear and comfortable. You might want to consider sending an extra mask, just in case. We will also have extra masks on hand.
