Administrator's Message
Happy fall! We would like to extend a thank you to all students, parents, guardians and teachers for an outstanding start to the school year. We feel so fortunate to be here helping to lead this school in learning and are very proud of all of our staff and the hard work they are putting in to ensure every student has started the year off on a positive note.
We would like to remind parents that with the cooler weather upon us, to be sure that all children are dressed for the weather. We would also like to remind all students of the rules here at École Riverview School. We are focused on our learning. We keep our hands and feet to ourselves and we use kind words. We get an adult to help us if we have a problem, and that on the playground we need to play respectfully and safely at all times. We watch out for one another, and treat others with kindness.
As term 1 comes to a close, we remind all families that our parent teacher conferences are on Wednesday, November 20th and Thursday, November 21st. The online scheduling system will open on November 7th. Please be sure to go online and book a spot that works best for you. Term 1 report cards go home on Tuesday, November 19th.
Our Remembrance Day ceremony will be on Friday, November 8th at 9:30 am in the gymnasium. Please be sure to send in a picture with your child if you would like to be a part of the “To Honour” portion of the program. Pictures of loved ones can be brought to school with your child, and given to our music teacher, Mrs. Donna Klassen. These pictures will be put into a slide show that will be shared at the ceremony.
We look forward to seeing parents out to our Remembrance day ceremony and at parent teacher conferences. The students have been working very hard this term and their teachers are looking forward to meeting with you.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about anything. Our doors are always open and we welcome the conversations. Take care and have a great month.
Yours in learning,
Sherry Jones, Principal
Jennifer Cox, Vice Principal

Physical Education News
We have been working very hard on our technique for each fundamental movement skill (galloping, running, hopping, striking, underhand throwing, etc.) from the start of the school year. Students are improving and becoming more confident in these basic skills, which is crucial in helping them along their path to becoming lifelong physically active people. I encourage you to ask your child to “teach” you proper running, galloping or overhand throwing technique, etc; they may be able to show you a thing or two!
Stay tuned for the start of the gr. 3-6 Intramural program. All permission forms are sent via e-mail using a program called Permission Click. Please ensure that we have your correct information on file to make the process as easy as possible. (*Be sure to check your junk/spam folder the first time around.*)
The grade 5/6 Phys. Ed. Student Leadership program has slowly begun. Students have completed training on the first grouping of Blue Cart (recess equipment) and have been very successful over AM/PM recess in helping students sign-in/out equipment, filling it with air and ensuring all is accounted for. Come mid-November, Intramural Helpers and Fit Bits will be added to the rotation allowing leaders the opportunity to chose, set-up and run games/activities/stations for others.
Lastly, there will be a grade 6 volleyball team starting up early November. We are excited to be playing in a Triple Ball tournament at Montrose School. Details will follow once everything has been confirmed.
UN GROS MERCI to all our students, staff and families who came out to the 19th Terry Fox Run. We were able to donate nearly $430 this year to The Terry Fox Foundation! It was really neat to see and hear students of all ages talking about where they were in Canada and how far they made it across Canada when the run was finished!

NEWS FROM ÉRSPAC
The “Seed A Structure” Halloween Social held on Saturday, October 26th was a success thanks to so many families who donated prizes, volunteered their time or bought tickets. A huge thank you to our local businesses for supporting this event. It truly takes a community effort to make positive change happen. All proceeds from the social will go toward funding our new play structure.
The Sustainability Committee has worked to get 8 dogwood shrubs planted in the school yard this fall. Unfortunately, due to our abnormal precipitation levels this autumn, the new tress (4 Basswoods) will have to be planted in the Spring. Thank you to Darcy Granove for turning this project into a reality.
Our next meeting has been rescheduled so it doesn’t conflict with parent teacher interviews and will now be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the staff room. Babysitting will be available at 6:15 in the MPR. We welcome all parents/guardians of ERS students to attend.
If you have any feedback, suggestions, question/concerns please contact erspac@gmail.com
