CHHS Debate
Congratulations to the debate team for the past two weekends of competition. Two weeks ago, the Public Forum team of Miranda Nutt and Marina Leventis finished tied for 3rd in their division in the 14 team California Robin Robin, featuring 14 of the top Public Forum teams in the country. Over the Presidents' Day weekend, Miranda and Marina competed against 210 other Public Forum teams. They finished as semifinalists (top 4) in their division.
This past weekend, they were joined by several of their teammates in competing in the North Texas Longhorn NSDA district tournament. Top place finishers at the tournament qualify for the National Speech and Debate Association national tournament that will be held in June in Salt Lake City. The policy debate team of Will Watson and Arsh Ladhani, the Public Forum team of Tanya Bryan and Raheena Ali will join Miranda and Marina at the tournament this summer.
We have now qualified six students this year and last to the tournament. We are excited about this competition. Other teammates, such as Alina Shivji, Aleena Jamal, Altaf Samnani, Aleesha Samnani, and Minaal Siddique have been critical to the success of these individuals. We thank you for your support of the debate team.
