VOX: Digital Audio Picture Books
VOX books are picture books with a digital audio player attached to the inside cover. Teachers can charge with a USB port. Students can use their own earbuds.
Heartland AEA has a small collection that we are piloting to see if there is a need for this type of collection. Each of these sets includes 4 or 5 audio picture books.
Would you check out some sets and try them with a few teachers and students? I would like to know how they are being used; if you see a need for this type of collection; whether the titles should be packaged and checked out individually or in a set. Susan Schrader
New Articles in Pebble Go
- Who invented the windshield wiper?
- When was the first home mailbox invented?
- Who popularized the potato chip?
There are dozens of new articles about important inventors and inventions, Ketanji Brown-Jackson and Madeline Albright. Spanish versions of the Ukraine, refugees, and Poland articles are now available. Click here for a list of the new articles.
Pashto / Persian Books
We are starting a K-12 book collection in Pashto / Persian to support our new students. It might take some time to develop the collection as there are a limited number of translated titles. Our vendors have also indicated that delivery of many of the titles is 2+ months.
We hope to have a collection of 200 titles this summer or fall.
SUMMER DELIVERY: With most books probably arriving in the summer, we want to remind you that Heartland AEA delivers to district administration offices (and buildings with summer programs). We'll send lists of the books as they arrive this summer through the Heartland AEA teacher librarian listserv. You can order online and we'll deliver.
