Spring Student Conferences
Student Conferences are an optimal way for parents and teachers to join together to discuss student’s strengths and areas for further growth. This spring our conferences will be held virtually, with an option for in-person conferences for families who may prefer that format. The February 29 evening session (5:30 - 8:00) has been set aside for in-person conferences with the remaining times devoted to virtual conferences. Information regarding virtual format and meeting links will be sent to families via email prior to the first conference date.
It may be a helpful reminder that middle school conferences are not booked with homeroom teachers. Conferences should be booked with your child’s academic teachers, related arts teachers, and, if applicable, related service providers.
Conferences will be held on the afternoon and evening of February 29th and the afternoon of March 8th. Conferences will be scheduled through our online appointment booking system, Pick-A-Time. A link to Pick-A-Time will be provided on our Luther Burbank website. Fall conference Pick-A-Time scheduling opened on February 13 at 7:00 PM.
Spelling Bee Champion
The Luther Burbank Spelling Bee made its return this year, seeing 16 students progress from the preliminary round held during school hours to the championship round held the evening of January 24. Kudos to Anna Hera (gr.6) for her victory, earning her a spot in the Regional Spelling Bee Elimination Round on February 27.
Logan Samuelson (gr. 6) secured 2nd place, and Matthew Gleason (gr. 8) claimed 3rd place position in our school spelling bee. Congratulations to Anna, Logan, and Matthew, as well as all the other competitors who showcased their impressive spelling skills and made us proud.
Massachusetts Jr. Central District Festival
On Saturday, February 3rd, a select group of Luther Burbank musicians traveled to Grafton, MA to represent Lancaster at the Massachusetts Jr. Central District Festival auditions. For auditions, each student had to prepare an assigned selection of solo repertoire, scales or rudiments, and were also asked to sight-read a music example on the spot. Auditions are very competitive, attracting close to 1000 7th-9th graders from across the Central District of Massachusetts. Following auditions, top scoring musicians are selected to join elite ensembles - a Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Chorus, and Jazz Ensemble - with predetermined vocal and instrumental needs.
This year, we are proud to have 5 Luther Burbank musicians accepted to the Festival:
Anastasia Maruska (gr. 7) on alto voice, Elizabeth Merrill (gr. 7) on alto voice, Ziva Hubbard (gr. 7) on clarinet, Matthew Gleason (gr. 8) on clarinet, and Beatrice Armstrong (gr. 8) on piccolo.
An additional honor, 7th grader Anastastia Maruska earned the top alto voice score out of the entire Massachusetts Central District. In music, this is known as being "1st chair."
Congratulations to all of the students who auditioned, and to those who were accepted, on your hard work and dedication. We hope you have a wonderful time at the music festival in April!
Nashoba Regional High School Athletics Information
We are excited to have you become a part of the Nashoba Regional High School Interscholastic Athletics Program. Nashoba Athletics is rich in pride and tradition. NRHS offers 50+ teams across 21 sports!
Participating at the high school level requires a greater commitment compared to a club or recreational team. Members of a team are expected to attend all practices and competitions. Weekend practice sessions may vary by sport and should be anticipated. In addition, teams do practice and compete over vacations and many holidays (i.e. Columbus Day, Veterans Day, etc.).
Prior to the start of each season, the high school will host a meeting for students and their parent(s)/guardian(s). These pre-season meetings serve as an opportunity for coaches to provide information about their program, team philosophy, expectations, and more.
The athletics office will send out information via email prior to each season, but we wanted to share information ahead of time for all potential incoming ninth graders.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Tania Rich, Director of Athletics, at trich@nrsd.net

Local Community Events and Programming
**Events posted on the bulletin board are community events, and as such they
are neither sponsored or sanctioned by the Nashoba Regional School District.**
The Stow Council on Aging (COA) is looking for volunteers to be COA Ambassadors. The COA is a busy place and sometimes a second set of hands is just what we need. COA Ambassadors can be expected to welcome residents, assist with our sign-in kiosk, and provide general information regarding COA activities. Depending on the day, COA Ambassadors may be asked to help with events including set-up and breakdown. Each COA Ambassador will be assigned a regular recurring weekly shift either in the morning (9:30 – 12:30) or afternoon (12:30-3:30). Volunteering is a great way to stay active and engaged. Contact Gigi at COAAdminAsst@Stow-MA.gov if you would like more information about this fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity! Please feel free to share this volunteer opportunity with anyone you think might be interested!
