Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, November 14th
Hello Mill Valley Families,
We are so excited to share the results of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) School Report Card for the 2018-2019 school year. Schools and districts receive an accountability score for each priority area: Student Achievement, Student Growth, Closing Gaps, and On-Track & Postsecondary Readiness. Overall, Mill Valley Elementary received a category rating of Significantly Exceeds Expectations! We are ranked 1st in Waukesha County and 3rd in the state, out of 1,200 schools!
Mill Valley has an incredible staff that is dedicated to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential. Our students have taken on the challenge of working hard and always trying their best to succeed. Our high scores on the Wisconsin Forward test is just one indicator of many great things happening at Mill Valley.

FAMILY GAME NIGHT!
Please join us THIS Friday, November 15th from 6:30-7:30pm for a FREE family game night of BINGO hosted by our own Mrs. Burgard. This has been a fun event for many years, and we are pleased to have the Burgard’s back again this year to host. Bring your left-over trick or treat candy bars to play a special round of “Candy Bar Bingo!”
Enter through Door #3 by the cafeteria. Doors will open at 6:15pm.
Mill Valley Gives Back
Thank you to all our students and families who sent in coins and cans for our annual Coin War and Food Drive.
We collected 1,019 non-perishable items for the food pantry which will help feed many families this Thanksgiving and $2,729 in coins which will all go directly to Mill Valley families in need this holiday season in the form of gift cards to put presents under their trees!
Congratulations to Mrs. Huxford’s classroom for collecting the most coins and Mr. Goelz’s classroom for collecting the most canned foods! Each class WON a pizza party sponsored by Mill Valley’s PTO.
Holiday Movie Night and Cookie Exchange
On Friday, December 13th at 6:30pm, PTO will be hosting a holiday themed family movie night in the MV gym for all students and families. We are also asking families who want to participate in a cookie exchange to bring their favorite cookies in a disposable container (or wrapped). Then, you are welcome to take home someone else’s cookies. We encourage families to bring gluten-free and nut-free options too. We will have different tables set up to clearly mark cookies. Any leftovers will be donated to local nursing homes for their holiday enjoyment.
What’s your favorite family holiday movie?
If you have any suggestions for a holiday themed movie, please email them to Mill Valley PTO at millvalleymuskegopto@gmail.com.
Classrooms will vote on the final movie selection!

Attendance Matters
As of November 13th, 2019, at Mill Valley Elementary 66% of our absences, this school year, have been due to illness or appointments. While we can’t always prevent children from getting sick and we certainly want sick children to stay home and get better, we also want them in school whenever they can be. Here are the Guidelines for keeping Sick Children Home.
Thank You...
