Message from the Athletic Office
We hope you have all enjoyed the Fall season and are ready to take on the Winter sports season with us. We have completely transitioned to the winter season and it appears the weather has transitioned as well.
This time of year is extremely busy with holidays but it is also a busy time at the IHSA. Twenty-five new by-law proposals were introduced this year with eleven of them passed to membership by the legislative committee. The hottest and most talked about by-law proposals are the reduction of summer contact days from 25 down to 20 and the removal of football districts. The rationale for the reduction of contact days is to force specific focus on skill development and to make it easier for high school students to participate in multiple sports during the summer months.
As of now, football districts will take over in the 2021-2022 school year. What that means is that the IHSA will set the schedules for all football teams based on geography and size. The new proposal will eliminate football districts and keep football schedules status quo, with schools forced to schedule their own games.
This time of year is always exciting. We will keep you updated on any major changes that will affect your Hornet athletics.

We hope that you are all able to have a joy filled holiday season!
GO HORNETS
