Gold Star Advisor is awarded to “outstanding NC HOSA Advisors who encourage students’ participation, follow the HOSA plan of work, and actively participate in HOSA activities to achieve their goals.” Mrs. Harris has taken a dormant program at PCHS and turned into a state, nationally, and internationally recognized chapter in less than two years. Thanks to Mrs. Harris and all of her HOSA students for their work, time and effort to bring this level of distinction to our HOSA program.
The fourth, and final, nine weeks grading period starts on Monday of this week. June may seem like it is way off in the distance but we only have 47 instructional days left in the school year. There will be lots of activities and events in the next nine weeks but it is important that students keep their focus on their academic progress and make sure that they are getting their work done and submitted on time. Preparations for final exams have already begun and will continue until the semester is over. Let's all work together to make the last grading period one full of focus, effort, and determination in the classrooms at PCHS.
Workkeys bootcamp will continue this week for all Seniors that are taking the test on March 30th. This is the last full week of preparation and it is vital that students attend the bootcamp as scheduled during WIN each day this week. The schedule for this week is as follows: Monday Group 1 will report to Mrs. Craddock and Group 2 will report to Mrs. Spellman, Tuesday Group 1 will report to Mr. Castle and Group 2 to Mrs. Tripp. Wednesday Group 1 will report to Mr. Fipps and Group 2 to Mrs. DeCastillia, and on Thursday Group 1 will report to Mrs. Perry and group 2 will report to Mr. Copeland. On Thursday, students will take a practice test so they can be fully prepared on the 30th.
Prom tickets are now on sale. The price of tickets is $35 per person until the end of March. Please see Mrs. Russell before or after school to purchase tickets. Tickets purchased after the March deadline will be $40 per person. The prom will take place on April 30th.
We have a warm week forecasted so parents we ask again that you assist us with dress code each day by checking what your child is wearing prior to them leaving for school. Your assistance will help minimize the loss of instructional time for your student due to dress code infractions. A dress code reminder can be found on the PCHS Facebook page.

We are still in the process of registering current 9th and 10th grade students. We will continue to do so the month of March. Students please make sure you have your registration form completed before meeting with your counselor.
Students, are you uncertain about your future career? If so, please see student services to register to take the ASVAB test as soon as possible. While this test is used as a military entrance exam, students who take the test are not required to talk to a recruiter or join the military. The ASVAB is a wonderful career preparation tool because it uses your interests and abilities to give you good information about the careers that best match your skill set. This computer-based test will be given on March 31 at 8:30 am. in the media center. Be sure to register today!

The Longleaf Commitment Grants for Class of 2022 - In May 2021, the Governor launched the Longleaf Commitment community college grant program that ensures that recent high school graduates from low- and middle-income families will receive at least $2,800 in federal and state grants to cover tuition and most fees at any of the state’s 58 community colleges. The Longleaf Commitment Program has been expanded to include 2022 high school graduates. Students need to have completed their RDS, and FAFSA in-order to be considered for the Grant.
More information on the grant program is available on the CFNC website and the NC Community College System website.
