Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
When people ask what I love most about my work, I always share that I get to work with amazing staff members who are dedicated to serving the children and families in a super supportive community. I am thrilled that the SVVSD Education Foundation is sponsoring a Tribute to Teachers award. This award recognizes and honors our outstanding teachers for their excellence in teaching. At each school across the district, finalists from across the district will be recognized and ultimately one teacher at each school will be recognized as Teacher of the Year.
Please help us amplify the incredible teachers at Eagle Crest by nominating a teacher who you believe exemplifies excellence for a Teacher of the Year Award. Visit St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation's website at https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/tribute-to-teachers/ for the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

Dean of Students Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
Last weekend we had a wonderful VEX IQ Robotics Tournament! We hosted twenty-six teams from seven St. Vrain schools in a full day of cooperative competition. Students had a chance to showcase their design, persevere through unpredictable one minute matches, and celebrate their growth from the beginning of the season. Two of Eagle Crest's teams were honored with awards. Team 4440D, the Eaglebotics Engineers, won the Design Award for an excellent Engineering Notebook, team interview, and explanation of their team process and cooperation. Team 4440A, the Eaglebotics Rebel Burgers, won the Excellence Award for their performance in Qualifying Matches, Robot Skills driver and autonomous matches, their explanation of their design process and cooperation in their interview, and an excellent Engineering Notebook. This award qualified team 4440A for the Colorado State tournament on February 26th!
Overall, it has been a fantastic season! We can't wait to see how the Rebel Burgers do at the state competition. We are already looking forward to next year!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students

The Reading Challenge Is Back!
In January, we celebrated 250,000+ minutes read as a school with a school wide pajama party. Now it's FREE BOOK FEBRUARY! Each week, one reader in every class will win a FREE BOOK. Students just need to log their reading minutes through the Weekly Reading Log for a chance to win. So grab a book and get reading!
Virtual Family / Teacher Conferences
PTO Update
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
Parent teacher conferences are quickly approaching. We are asking families to sign up to bring dinner and snacks using our SignUp Genius link. If you're viewing on a mobile device, please note each grade level tab is at the top of the sign up page. We have simplified the process by limiting restaurant choices and offering two delivery time blocks. The personalized meals were a HUGE hit among ECES staff in the fall!
If you don't have time to drop off a meal, delivery services such as Door Dash sent to your teacher/staff member via the front office work too! If your teacher's slots are filled, please consider providing a lounge snack/drink or a meal for an additional staff member working during conferences.
Thank you for helping us show some individual appreciation for all that our teachers and staff do for us! Any questions can be sent to Katie Lancaster at ecptovolcoor@gmail.com.
Have a great week,
Jenn Pensy, PTO president

The three Silver Creek parent organizations (RABC, SCEF and SCOPA) are sponsoring a Share the Love Valentine's Fundraiser. Two Silver Creek businesses, Chai for Charities and Happy Day Plants, are partnering with us in this endeavor. Order at raptoractivitiesboosterclub.com by 6 PM on Thursday, February 3. Thank you for supporting students, faculty and staff impacted by the Marshall Fire!
Mwebaza Sister School Update
Do you have a RED Eagle Crest “Laps for Leadership” shirt that doesn’t fit anymore?
Last year the Eagle Crest PTO donated shirts to the students and teachers at Mwebaza Annex. THANK YOU EC PTO! Mrs. Hansen took them to Uganda in October and they love them so much they are starting a tradition of wearing them every Friday. Each Friday afternoon all students are working in the vegetable gardens and learning first hand about sustainable gardening, composting, recycling, and reusing!
With the school enrollment going up each week they have asked us for more shirts so they have enough for everyone. If you have the RED shirt from last year’s “Laps for Leadership” and it doesn’t fit anymore please consider donating it to Mwebaza Annex. Another trip to Uganda is planned for March 17th and all donated RED shirts will be brought to our partner school!
There will be a tub in the front area of the school for students to drop off shirts.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Preschool Registration - We still have spots available!
The purpose of Eagle Crest Elementary Preschool is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to develop and grow socially, physically and emotionally. Through the classroom experience, your child will develop independence "through intentional learning opportunities, an enriched classroom environment, and engagement with classroom teachers and peers that supports a new awareness of the world around them.” Your child will participate in many activities developed to enrich and enhance both small and large motor skills and basic readiness concepts (i.e. colors, numbers, counting, and shapes). Our curriculum is quite flexible and designed to stimulate each child to develop a positive self image through positive experiences and encouragement. With these experiences, we believe we will enable your child to become a lifelong learner and have a smooth entry to kindergarten.
New this year, we are exploring offering a Pre-K childcare “Wraparound” program for preschool students. This program would accommodate extended learning for students from 7:30am-5:30pm, so that students could have a full day experience here at Eagle Crest. This Wraparound programming is run by our partner, Community Schools, and would provide an integrated full day. Wraparound programming is a fee-based service with opportunities for financial assistance (CCAP). We are asking parents to complete the survey below and let us know your interest in the full day Wraparound program. Based on the level of interest from our parents, we will decide if we can start a Wraparound program this fall. Please complete the survey below to let us know your interest level. I will be in communication with families later this spring about our ability to provide Wraparound programming.
