FES Monthly Update
April
Principal Message
FES Families,
Each year when the month of April rolls around, I can't help but get filled with all different emotions. Different emotions come to mind:
- Sad because the year is coming to close,
- Happy because the spring weather brings such joy for students and staff
- Overjoyed and proud because during this month our students get to show all that they have learned this school year on state and district assessments
- Excited because there is still so much more to accomplish this school year!
During this month our staff has coordinated testing schedules that will support and offer our students the best opportunity to show success and proficiency on state assessments. We plan to go into this testing season with optimism and excitement, and encourage our families to do the same. We want our students to come to school on those testing days relaxed and ready, and most importantly confident in their abilities. Because we believe in each one of them to show what they know! The testing schedule is detailed below in the newsletter, and more specific questions can be directed to your child's teacher.
The month of April also kicks off Autism Awareness Month. Our PALSS committee has organized a wonderful month that celebrates and shows acceptance for Autism. More information on details and plans are included below!
Some reminders for this month (additional information for each are included in the newsletter):
- Don't forget to order your 2022-2023 yearbook! The link is included in this newsletter. Yearbooks were not included in photo packages, and need to be ordered separate if you would like one.
- Don't forget to attend Buffalo Wild Wings to support PALLS (Peers are Linked for Social Success) on Wednesday, April 12.
- Get your Loons tickets to celebrate success in the reading program!
I hope you each find joy and happiness in the longer days, filled with sunshine and blue sky (most days). I am looking forward to continuing meeting more and more Freeland families.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Kali McKenna

Great Lakes Loons Reading Program!
As a part of the Great Lakes Loons Reading Program, your child earned one free ticket to a Loons game. Below are two of the frequently asked questions regarding the prizes and game ticket from the Loons Reading Program.
What games can students use their tickets for?
One of three home games (May 6, June 11, and June 18). We encourage parents to attend with their child to the game of their choosing. Please scan the QR code to reserve your tickets. If you have multiple students or any other questions, please call or email Jacob Wendorf @ 989-837-6128 or jwendorf@loons.com
What are the prizes and how do you get them?
Prizes include things like a special offer to Qdoba, a special offer to Molasses Smokehouse, a Meijer fun pack, and a free ticket to one of three Loons games. All of these prizes will need to be picked up at Dow Diamond when students redeem their ticket voucher along with the special offers.SOAR WINNERS
