Greetings Belleville Families, Though Parent-Teacher Conferences are a month away, please know that you can ALWAYS reach out to your student's teachers, counselors, and administrators (email is usually most reliable) to support your child's learning. Being proactive regarding sharing information or strategies that have proven successful is always helpful!

Homecoming Week is one of the most memorable events for high school students! We will need VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL GRADES to support the activities of the season. See the Student Council section below for the sign-up links.
PSAT Testing for 9th and 10th Grades ONLY: Opt-In Form
BHS Families, Please use this link to Fall 2023 Testing Opt-in Form sign your 9th or 10th grader up for the Practice SAT. This test date is 10/13/23, and the deadline to complete this form is Monday, October 2nd.
NOTE: All 11th graders are required to take the Fall PSAT; no opt-in is needed for Grade 11.
MEDICINES - ATTENTION PARENTS!
💊💉🧴Please DO NOT send medicine to school with your student. If they have any type of medicine that they take during school hours, whether it is over the counter, topical, or prescribed, they MUST have a doctor's note and a medication form submitted in the Main Office. You can bring medicine to them, but you must administer it to them, and stay with them while they take it.💊💉🧴

Homework Lab📚
Welcome back, everyone! We wanted to inform you that the Homework Lab and Testing Center at BHS will be open beginning this week to provide additional support to our students. We encourage you to share this information with your respective classes and colleagues. The Homework Lab will be available on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:15 to 3:15. During this time, students can receive assistance with their homework assignments or seek guidance on any academic challenges they may be facing. To ensure a smooth and efficient process, it is required that students sign up using bookmarks before attending the lab. We recommend that they sign up before 1:00 pm to secure their spot.
We understand the importance of providing academic support to our students, and our staff is dedicated to assisting them in the Homework Lab. If any students require guidance or additional help, please encourage them to take advantage of this resource. Thank you for your cooperation and support in promoting the Homework Lab and Testing Center among our students. By working together, we can ensure that every student receives the assistance they need to succeed academically. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

STUDENT HANDBOOK AND DRESS CODE
An excellent educational experience is always undergirded by a safe and orderly environment. Please take the time to review the Student Handbook, which includes the BHS Student Dress Code. For a quick review of items to avoid, please click the link for COMMON DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS.
In particular, students will not be wearing:
- Hoods
- Crop Tops
- Ski Masks
- or any bedwear or grooming attire, including pajamas, blankets, pajama bottoms, hair scarves or durags.

The BHS Cafe - A Greater Dining Experience!
From the The Belleville High School Café:
Students, to keep things timely and smoothly, please remember these tips:
- Please be patient and do not cut in line
- There are two lines: PIZZA and Other Entrees
- You must get a fruit or vegetable in order for the meal to be free
- Only one juice or milk per meal/student
- Only one entrée per meal (additional entrees are $2.00 each)
- Pop, chips, snacks cost money, but you can use your school account to pay
- If you are not purchasing any extras, please go through the line that is not for buying snacks (clipboard side)
Parents & Guardians: Food Account Payments
In order to fund your child's lunch account, please follow the steps below:
- Login to the MiStar ParentConnect Portal with your PIN and Password. Your school secretary can assist you if you need this information.
Click on your student's name, and you will see a variety of options on the menu at left.
Click on the Cafeteria link in the menu at left
Click on the "Online Food Service Payment" at far right.
Enter the amount you would like to add to your student's cafeteria account.
Follow the prompts to enter your payment information.
Thank you for making the first week enjoyable and check out our menu online.

- AM bus leaves WDF for BHS at 10:05 AM arriving at BHS at 10:30 AM
- PM bus leaves BHS for WDF at 10:35 AM
- PM bus leaves WDF for BHS at 1:35 PM arriving at BHS at 2:00 PM
Please make sure to get to the bus on time. If buses are late, it impacts the entire Van Buren Public School District.

Attention Student Athletes
Any student athletes who plans on playing their sport at the college level needs to register with the NCAA eligibility center. Please feel free to reach out to your counselor for assistance.
ALERT! Ticket Purchasing❗
Schools in the KLAA will be offering options this year for purchasing tickets for athletic events. Belleville High School will be using GoFan exclusively (No Cash at the gate). Card Readers will be available. The concession stands are still using cash. Students under High School age MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all athletic events. Belleville High School Pre-Order Class Shirt Distribution
On Monday, September 25, 2023, ONLY pre-ordered class shirts will be distributed during all lunches in the media center. Students who do not pick up their shirt on Monday, September 25th can pick up their shirt on Tuesday, September 26th or Wednesday, September 27th in the media center during all lunches. After these dates, pre-order shirts or hoodies can be picked up in the main office ONLY before or after school.

BHS Class Packages Information
Thursday, September 28, 2023 is the last day to purchase a BHS Class Package. Class packages must be purchased through the SBA. Go to the Belleville High School Website: https://www.vanburenschools.net/o/belleville-high Then go to the Parents and Community tab. Select Online Payments. The parent will need to login to their Parent Connect account. Once there, they can follow the directions on the Online Payment Instructions that are linked on the first page. Powder Puff Football Game
This year's Powder Puff Football Game, the Seniors versus the Juniors, will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 on the BHS Football Field beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 per person. Due to the game being a student council fundraising event, athletic passes will not be accepted for admission. The concession stand will be available beginning at 6:00 p.m.
BHS Homecoming Dance 2023 Information
Belleville’s High School “Dreamy Night” Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The dance will be held in the commons. Tickets, which are $25 each, will be available for purchase in the media center during lunches on September 25 - 27, 2023 while supplies last. Each student purchasing a ticket in person, MUST present a school ID when purchasing a ticket.
Tickets are also available for purchase now through SBA (New Payment System) Go to the Belleville High School Website: https://www.vanburenschools.net/o/belleville-high Then go to the Parents and Community tab. Select Online Payments. The parent will need to login to their Parent Connect account. Once there, they can follow the directions on the Online Payment Instructions that are linked on the first page.
If you purchased one of the class packages, the homecoming ticket is included in the package. The student school ID will be their ticket into the dance. Dress Code is “Dressy” however; School Dress Code applies. Here is the link for the HOMECOMING DRESS CODE
*No tickets are sold at the door! There are NO guest passes accepted for this dance. DOORS CLOSE AT 8:00 PM….and there are NO Refunds!
Belleville High School Class Shirts WAIT-LIST
The window to purchase individual class shirts closed on September 1, 2023. However, If there are extra class shirts or hoodies available for purchase and you would like to be placed on the waiting list, complete the wait-list google form. We will notify all students if a shirt or hoodie is available by email on Tuesday, September 26th.
Students who are notified that they have a reserved shirt or hoodie will pay through SBA or by Cash on Wednesday, September 27th. Reserved shirts or hoodies will be distributed on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 during ALL lunches. Payment must be made in order to receive the shirt or hoodie.
Please note that if you bought a "Class Package" for your student then their class shirts are included. However, if you did not complete the pre order google form by September 1st, you MUST complete the wait-list Google Form to provide their desired shirt size. (We will try our best to provide their desire size, but it is not guaranteed due to the failure to complete the pre-order google form by Sept 1st)

Wayne County Manufacturing Day 2023
Belleville High School and the Counseling department are excited for the opportunity to participate in this year's Manufacturing Day on Thursday, October 5th from 9:15-1:30 pm. Manufacturing Day supports students who are interested in careers in manufacturing and aligns with the Engineering, Manufacturing & Industrial Technology pathway.
We will be visiting two sites on this trip. Site 1 is Constellium, in Van Buren and site 2 is MIAT located in Canton.
Participation details:
- Students must be in 12th grade
- Wear close toe shoes (site company rule)
- Wear long pants, with no holes or skin showing (site company rule)
- No access to phones while attending the first site
- Offered to the first 30 students who sign up.
- Lunch will be provided at the 2nd site

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Information
The 3rd Annual Detroit Black College Expo is happening on Saturday, September 30th!
Expo 10:00 am to 2:30 pm with a 2:30 - 4:30 pm after show featuring Scholarship Presentation, entertainment, cash giveaways, and come and participate in the “Dance Off” for Cash & Prizes, hosted by our celebrity ambassadors.

This event is a great opportunity for students to explore their academic options and connect with historically black colleges and universities.
