Principal's Message
Hello Families,
Thank you again for taking the time to help your child get off to a great start this school year! One way we build our routines and expectations here at school is with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). PBIS, perhaps you have heard your child refer to it as "The Wildcat Way," is a positive behavior support system designed to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The Wildcat Way sets clear expectations and creates a positive atmosphere for learning. We have spent much of the first week building routines and modeling our all-school expectations, In all things be: Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. On Friday, September 22 we will celebrate all of that hard work with an all-school photo! Please have your child wear purple, yellow, or white on that day.
Building solid routines and expectations at home helps reinforce the work that is done daily at school. Would you like to try the Wildcat Way at home? If so, check out the link and start today!
This week we will begin our back-to-school assessments in both literacy and math. The assessments help teachers understand what students know today, so goals can be set and instruction crafted to grow a student's skills throughout the year. Schedules can vary due to the nature of the assessments, as some are done individually while others are done as a whole group. If you have any questions, feel free to connect with your child's teacher.
Paws Up,
Mr. Schreiber

Safety Drills
Safety is always a top priority at school, which is why we practice safety drills and review safety plans. Some drills, like a fire drill, are very familiar. Some others, a medical alert, for example, may not be. The following are the drills we practice throughout the school year.
- Fire drills are practiced monthly. Staff and students follow the evacuation route out of the classroom when the alarm sounds.
- Tornado drills are practiced at least twice a year.
- ALICE emergency drills are practiced at least twice a year. ALICE stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate and is used when there is an unsafe person on school grounds.
- Medical Alert drills are practiced at least twice during the year. A team of school staff that have been trained in CPR and First Aid respond. This drill is practiced only by staff. Students do not participate.
Each day this week we will be practicing a drill and the teacher will be previewing what we do prior to practicing. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher.
Thanks for your continued support!
Mr. Schreiber
