BES Wildcats ROAR

We are pleased that there was a good bit of participation for our school fundraiser!! BES truly appreciates your support! Packets were due on Friday, but we will still accept orders on Monday. Please get these in so that we can make sure that there is not a delay in getting these items in. Our planned delivery is near Parent Conference day in October. More information will be released regarding delivery once we have the orders submitted. A permission form will come home for the gaming truck for students that sold at least 12 items. The date for the truck has not yet been set.

We are glad to welcome our parents and families to eat lunch with their own child. Visitors should not pull other students to eat with their child. If you are coming for lunch, please make sure that you have your ID to check in and get a badge. Visitors should report to the sunroom to eat with their child. Once lunch is over, the student should return to their class for dismissal, and the parent/visitor should return to the office for check out. Visitors should not travel down the hallways or other places in the building. Thank you in advance for your help with this safety matter!

Our PTO has done some wonderful things for our students and staff, and wants to continue that work this year. There are different ways to participate and we would love your support! In ELA this week: 3rd Grade Scholars will use the text, The Islanders by Mary Alice Monroe. Scholars will study character traits and how character’s actions effect the plot of the story.

In Project Goal, Scholars will be learning how to use Draw a Picture Problem Solving Strategy. Scholars will be identifying Cause & Effect through analogies. Scholars will also begin their study of the Space Race: Then and Now.

Scholars will continue reading Sign of the Beaver, and using the text to analyze characters, setting, and events. Scholars will complete a one pager project. During word study, scholars will study multiple meaning words and will study root words "ject" .

Fifth graders have the opportunity to take part in the program To Good For Drugs. Students will attend classes weekly with Officer Parrott.

Scholars in 3rd grade will complete Continent research, while Scholars in 4th and 5th grade will compare and contrast works of fiction and non-fiction texts.

• Good News Club will meet on Tuesday. If you signed your child up, please send a transportation note for Tuesday.
• If your student is on the Robotics team, practice will continue this week.
• Please support your child by ensuring that their laptops are charged every day and brought to school each and every day!
• Please turn in a note if your child is out of school for any reason. Truancy letters have been sent home for students that have missed three unexcused days in a row OR five unexcused days total.
• Please send a note if there is a change in transportation. This note should include the child's first and last name, the change requested, length of the change, and a parent/guardian signature.
• Pick-up for the Kids Club is in the back loop. Car riders are picked up in the back loop until 2:45. Please do not pick-up up from Kids Club before 2:45. Parents are required to sign their child out from Kids Club.
