What has changed since the last program evaluation?
What next steps would better serve our students?
The more P.E. they get, the better. Right now they will see me once every four days with the potential to have me twice a week. We are on an A,B,C, D rotation for 45 minutes besides Wednesday’s. If we go to a five day rotation it will limit their PE time to once per week or not having PE at all on shortened weeks.

What data/evaluation criteria illustrates the effectiveness of this area?

-Striking with implements (Floor Polo, Wiffleball, Badminton, Pickleball, Floorball)

What has changed since the last program evaluation?
It is wonderful to have a full-sized gym. The Elementary Gym is used quite frequently by students of all age levels.
Applied for a grant from the American Heart Association titled “Eagles Hydrating Our Healthy Hearts.” We received a grant in the amount of $2,035 for a water bottle filling station. It is located by the 5th grade bathrooms, so it is close to the gym.
What next steps would better serve our students?
We are on an A-B-C-D rotation now, seeing students for 50 minute class periods.
Larger Budget as PE equipment is expensive and we are always adding students as our school district grows.
From what I understand, big changes are going to take place next year as 5th grade transitions out of the Elementary and moving to the Middle School. What information can be shared about this transition?

Southern Boone Middle School Updates
What data/evaluation criteria illustrates the effectiveness of this area?

7th Grade Priority Standards (Success Criteria is still being completed)
6th Grade Priority Standards (Success Criteria is still being completed)
We collect data on each quarter on students for physical fitness testing (push-ups, sit-ups, 1600m run, shuttle run and the sit and reach). You will find an example of that data below.
What has changed since the last program evaluation?
Each grade of health and physical education as a whole has had new priority standards written. The standards are being used this year but will be used in conjunction with grading with our change to standards based grading.
We have lost our office and storage area for the year which has made things very hectic and at times difficult. We have to store all of our equipment in our Health rooms and carry back and forth per Unit. Health Room Picture
Wren/Crow have no personal plan period space to work since construction began.
We did just receive a projector and massive screen for the gym! This will really enhance instruction and transparency with our students, as well as facilitate the needs of our Middle School sport programs.
What next steps would better serve our students?
As the fifth grade moves over to the middle school, it will more than likely result in the need for another physical education teacher in the building if we are to offer the same PE/Health schedule to the fifth grade.
We would choose for kids to have PE scheduled for everyday, rather than every other day. We have seen student-performance go down and the health of our students decline. (6th Grade Health is taught at SBMS, but a state requirement).

Upcoming Events
- In November, we will participate in the “Stack Up.” We are registered to try to help set a WSSA World Record for the “Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations.” Cup stacking helps students use both sides of their bodies and brains to develop important athletic and lifelong skills. On the more technical side, cup stacking helps students develop bilateral proficiency- equal performance on both sides of the body.
Middle School:
We are anxiously awaiting the completion of our new coaches office and storage for our equipment (we have been and will be without storage and coaches offices for the whole year). While the date of completion continues to move, we are hopeful to have access to that area before next school year.
There will also be a new multi-purpose room that should have exercise equipment in it. We hope to have multiple weight racks and Coach Gares hopes to use those to transition his Personal Fitness class into an intro to weight lifting class.
