"Math matters in diagnosing auto problems, adjusting recipes in culinary arts, welding, carpentry, reading meters in electrical work - even in cosmetology, where geometry helps sculpt hairstyles" (Tirrell-Wysocki, 2021).
Mr. Schlapak, a DHS math teacher, has a personal relationship with CTE and has seen firsthand the positive impact it can have on a student's life. All three of his children participated in CTE programs at Dover High School, and he truly appreciates that they would not be where they are today without those CTE experiences. His passion is fueled by realizing the opportunities these programs provide students, no matter what their goal is for life after high school.
