Dear Village Families,

As you may know, we are in the process of preparing for a return to in-person learning! Please see the important information here about re-opening:

• WHEN WILL SCHOOL RE-OPEN?

• RVUSD is aiming for a March 15 re-opening date. We will keep you posted.

• WHAT DAYS WILL MY CHILDREN HAVE IN-PERSON SCHOOL?

• Your children will be assigned to either Mondays and Tuesdays OR Thursdays and Fridays.

• Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for hybrid learning days.

• We will let you know your children’s school days on Monday, March 1. Our original date for this was February 26, but it has been slightly delayed.

• WHAT WILL BE THE FOCUS OF THE AFTERNOON, IN-PERSON LEARNING?

• Safe social interactions

• Collaborative learning

• Reinforcing academic learning

• Social-emotional learning

• Re-learning what in-person school is all about!

• PE and fitness

• Reinforcing foundational skills to be ready for the next grade level

• PARENT CONCERNS

• Many, many of us are concerned about learning loss and how students will make up for this past year of distance learning.

• We are all in this together! Here are a few things I can assure you of now:

• Your kids ARE LEARNING!

• Your kids are AWESOME and ADORABLE!

• Your kids are PERSEVERING and RESILIENT

• This year has taught us all valuable lessons that will help us be successful throughout life.

• We are Village Strong!

• We educators have your back!

• As Village plans for next year we are being very mindful of the wide differences of experiences AND similarities of experiences we have all been through this year.

• We will be focusing on where students are now, and helping them grow from there.

• We will be assessing and progress-monitoring students to ensure that they have all the support they need to be successful in their learning.

• We will not teach from a deficit approach, rather from a growth mindset approach.

• Please join me for a Question and Answer Forum to discuss our collective concerns and potential solutions. I may not have all the answers, but together we can figure it out!

Como sabrá, ¡estamos en el proceso de prepararnos para volver al aprendizaje en persona! Consulte la información importante aquí sobre la reapertura:

• ¿CUÁNDO VOLVERÁ A ABRIR LA ESCUELA?

If you child is going to be absent from any classroom zoom time due to illness, appointment or other reason please contact the Village School office at (707)545-5754 and press 1 for the attendance line. Please leave your child's name, teacher, the date you called, the reason for the absence.

If you are having technology issues and you are unable to get onto a zoom please also contact the school attendance line.

The main newsletter is sent in English to all families however, there is the option to translate it into multiple languages. If you would like to have the translated newsletter please open the newsletter in your web browser and you will see a box to the left that says "translate." Select the arrow to download the translation and choose your preferred language. A screen print is provided below for reference. Thank you!
