1st Week of School&Reopening Videos
Hello Everyone,
Wow! We successfully completed the first week of school! It has been an incredible task both for our teachers and students. Many adjustments are being made along the way, and we are continuing to be flexible in order to instruct our students safely in-person and synchronously at home. Also, THANK-YOU to the parents at home who are supporting and helping your children log on/participate virtually! We are amongst the FIRST schools in the state of Illinois to offer this in-person/virtual system, and this comes with many challenges. However, we are SO impressed with our teachers and staff's dedication and hard work. THANK-YOU TEACHERS & STAFF--you all are AMAZING! We really are making the IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE!

What we experienced this week:
- 60% of families registered and used the dismissal app PikMyKid
- Physical distancing in-person in hallways and lunch time is effective
- Temperature checks at arrival time is a smooth process & kids/staff are getting used to the routine
- Students are making safe choices and using hand sanitizer, washing hands frequently, and keeping a distance during class and lunch times
- Almost NO tardies! This is such a great start to the year! Let's keep it up!
What we learned:
- Technology isn't always perfect, so there is trial-and-error
- Students are adjusting well to their new teachers and making new friends along the way
- All students in-person are following the daily mask policy carefully and responsibly
What we expect next week:
- More families using the dismissal PikMyKid app & pick-up from the car or parking lot area
- 100% participation from Virtual Students
- Lanyards for students' masks so they stay on their person throughout the day (SAC will provide these)
