Welcome to 2023 Lion Cub Families!

We are in a new month and a new year but our mission, vision, and goals for our Haw River Community are still the same. As students return tomorrow, we will continue to be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, seek first to understand then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw so that we can continue to be a community of empowered leaders who work as a team! WE LEARN! WE LEAD! WE SUCCEED!

Reminders:

• Families may come to each lunch with your students. Please reach out to your child's teacher to let them know you are coming so they can plan for seating. Remember: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK MAY BE BROUGHT IN. Upon arrival, please sign in at the front office and get a visitor's tag.

When students return on Tuesday, they will notice that our cafeteria has a new and shiny floor. We are excited that our cafeteria was able to get this upgrade over the break. We want to show our Lion Cub Pride by being mindful of our environment in the cafeteria during lunch and breakfast and cleaning up after ourselves. Parents, please discuss how we can show pride in our school by taking care of our classrooms and common areas and cleaning up after ourselves.

Wow, Lion Cubs! You stepped up to the challenge! As a school, we grew a total of 16,530 points which is equivalent to 2,755 TOUCHDOWNS!!! Lion Cubs earned a total of $5,744 of Cub Currency, and 5,686 House Points were awarded for Academic Excellence for showing growth from BOY to MOY on the i-Ready math and reading diagnostics.

During the new year, are you looking for ways to give back to our community? Volunteering your time at our school would be a great way to be involved. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with our duty-free lunch. To volunteer, please complete the background check linked here and sign up by clicking the button below.

Thinking Win-Win embraces an attitude that continually seeks mutual benefit in our interactions with others. It is choosing to believe that there is plenty for everybody and that other people’s success doesn’t come at a cost to us. Habit 4 aligns with the principles of mutual benefit, fairness, and abundance.

In first place is Excelsior with 5,289 points. The points leader for the 2nd nine weeks is Jazlyn A., in 4th grade. The points leader so far this year is Itzel S., in 2nd grade!

For January our Lion Cub Leaders are being challenged to show initiative in practicing their math skills at home. Students will receive a January Money Maker Menu, and their goal is to complete 4 tasks a week. When students complete a task, a parent or guardian will need to check and sign off in that box. For every four tasks that were completed and have a parent's signature or initials, students can receive $1 in cub currency. At the end of the month, students will need to return their completed Money Maker to school! If your child needs an extra copy, they are linked in the buttons below.
