Autumn Term 2, Week 4
A Word from Mr Broom
As you will see below, it's also been fun in classrooms too as our Learning Journeys come towards an end. The children have so much to share when it gets to Open Classrooms.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

A Wonderful PTA Panto Experience
As far as experiences go, you could go no better than our latest one; a trip to the Panto! Every child visited York College to see a double Pantomime performance on Wednesday. The experience of seeing live performance will remain long in the memory. Thank you again to our wonderful PTA for providing this exprience.
Attendance at All Time High!
Over the past few weeks, I've noticed a number of holiday requests coming in so, before they have a huge impact on our overall attendance, I thought it worthwhile sharing and celebrating our attendance for the year so far.
Last year, overall attendance from 5th Sept 2022 to 26th Nov 2022 was 95.64%.
This year, overall attendance from 4th Sept 2023 to 27th Nov 2023 was 97.73%.
Attendance has risen by 2.09% which is huge!
This is a huge increase and I'd like to thank everyone for your continuing support with attendance. It tells us that the curriculum is increasingly engaging because children want to be at school, and that Appleton families value attendance and the positive impact it has on life chances.
I recognise how difficult it can be with family work commitments and often the cost of holidays but thank you for considering these.

Enterprise Challenge Launch
This week in school, we launched a very exciting Enterprise Challenge to the children. Each class is going to set up their own business! They need to come up with ideas of items they can sell at the Christmas Fair, make them to a budget, decide how they'll promote them and then sell them at the school Christmas Fair on Thursday 7th December.
The class that makes the most money will win a Christmas movie afternoon. More details about the fair below.
Festive Events Summary
We have some lovely experiences and events planned for our children and families in the run up to Christmas. Many of them support by our wonderful PTA. Here's a summary of everything that's going on:

OfSTED Parent View
We start the new academic year expecting an Ofsted Inspection at some point in the year. We are certainly well overdue!
You can really help us by completing the Ofsted Parent View online survey. It's a short series of questions that should take you no longer than 10 minutes. Of course, when we do get the call, you'll get another opportunity to share your views.
Click here to access the online survey on the government website.

A polite reminder that we have children in school who have severe nut allergies. Please ensure that you do not bring nuts on to the school site or include them in packed lunches.
Thank you for your support with this.
Staff Shout Outs
I've had a few messages from parents/carers asking about how they can send a staff shoutout for a staff team. It's great that you think about them and really does help to raise morale.
