Holy Cross Catholic School
From the desk of Dr. Melissa Wagner
September 29, 2023
As we close the month of September and reflect on our first full month of school, it is hard to believe we were able to squeeze so much into one month. This year has already provided us with so many blessings including a CEF visit with the Archbishop and it was so special to close the month with honoring our Saintly Students of the Month during our first Faith Family Mass. After Mass, our Faith Families enjoyed being together by having our 8th grade leaders give a lesson on their families saint, played a get to know you game and discussed their Unbound global students.
This summer Unbound came to us and said that an anonymous donor came to them and was so impressed with how we embrace diversity that they wanted to sponsor as many Unbound Global students for our school as we would like and for as long as we would like to have global students. What a special gift!!! Holy Cross along with Unbound paired our global students with countries of where our families home countries. Our students will get the opportunities to write letters and learn about other countries. We were overwhelmed with this anonymous donor's generosity and are so grateful for God's work in helping us learn and grow as a global community.
Holy Cross is hard at work making the school the best Catholic school in the city and it is NOT going unnoticed. Thank you all for making our community such a special place!
Think First Injury Prevention Program
We were so blessed to have the Think First program come to our school today to discuss safety. The program taught our students about helmet, seatbelt, street crossing, and water safety. This program was formed by a group of neurosurgeons to help children be safe by thinking first. Thank Mrs. Petri, Mrs. Reeb, Mrs. Mandl and Mrs. Haverkamp for organizing this important event.
Confidentiality for Parents
Parent confidentiality in elementary schools is a critical aspect of maintaining trust and privacy within the educational system. Schools are responsible for protecting sensitive information about students and their families while also fostering open communication between parents and teachers.
We are a small and family-like community which we all love, but with that opens up the potential for blurred lines. School email and phone conversations are the preferred line of communication between Holy Cross staff and parents. The teachers and staff are held to high level of professionalism and confidentiality and are asked to only use these two forms of communication with parents. We appreciate your understanding.
Dia de la Muertes Table
We are wanting to celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 1 and November 2. We would love to have a volunteer help with this so we are able to continue this beautiful celebration upholding the Hispanic tradition.
