Pontiac School News

As principal, I was full of pride this past Thursday when we welcomed more than 50 visitors to our school to share student leadership and classroom engagement with others.

Our student performances were stellar and student tour guides were absolutely impressive. Classroom greeters welcomed our visitors into classrooms and those students that shared their leadership notebooks were quite wonderful. Our teachers were outstanding in their classrooms and our school shined!

Thank you for your continued support of our school.

We need as much as possible to break and use for our Pontiac Parrots so if we could get any donated ceramic plates, mugs, bowls, bathroom tiles, etc. that would greatly help us out (I'll be scouring thrift stores and hitting up tile shops for scraps). They need to be BRIGHTLY colored... red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple (no neutrals).

All of our 5th grade students were recently visited by band, chorus, and orchestra students from Summit Parkway Middle School. Each ensemble performed for our students, the directors introduced their middle school programs, and our students asked any questions they had concerning the middle school music classes. If your 5th grade child is interested in participating in band, chorus, or orchestra and will be attending a Richland Two middle school next year, the district is asking you to indicate that interest by completing an online registration form by March 31st. You can access the form as follows:

1. go to www.richland2.org
2. click on the Explore menu in the upper right hand corner
3. click on I'm a Richland Two Student or Parent
4. scroll down the list of tabs on the right hand side and click on Middle School Music Form

I have a limited number of paper brochures only available for those with no internet access. Please have your child come by my music room to pick one up if this applies to your situation and you would like to register your child for a middle school music program.
