Schedule of Key Events
Additional Information about each of these events is provided below but here is the schedule for key events leading up to graduation:
- June 6th- Senior Celebration from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Hylton in the gym and Commons
- June 8th- Graduation Practice at 7:30 a.m.
- June 10th- Graduation at Eagle Bank Arena, students report at 7:30 a.m., doors open to guests at 8:30 a.m., & the ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m.
Outstanding Financial Obligations Must Be Taken Care of by Friday June 3rd
- Please return ALL items, uniforms, textbooks, library books, etc. to the school by Friday June 3rd
- Lost or damaged items MUST be paid for.
- Fees and fines must be paid for transcripts, fundraisers, etc.
- Please return items and or pay fees directly to the person you received items or services from.
Locker Cleanout by June 8th
Senior Celebration - 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 8th
We will have games, prizes, food, and more!
This event is free for all members of the Class of 2022!
LAPTOP DEVICE COLLECTION FOR SENIORS
Only Seniors Exempt from Exams:
- Wednesday, June 1st- Last Names (A-L)- during all lunch shifts in the Commons
- Thursday, June 2nd- Last Names (M-Z)- during all lunch shifts in the Commons
Seniors Taking Exams:
- Friday June 3rd- after exams at Door #4
- Monday June 6th- after exams at Door #4
- Tuesday June 7th- after exams at Door #4
- Wednesday June 8th- after exams at Door #4
*All seniors need a device return receipt to participate in Graduation this year.*
Preparing for Graduation
Record your Name!
- Want to make sure that your name is pronounced correctly as you cross the stage at graduation? We want that too!
- Please use the button below to log on and create a short flipgrid of how to pronounce your name.
- Mrs. Smythe will also be working with senior English classes to go over pronunciations.
- Names are listed in the program as official names registered in PWCS, we cannot make changes.
Cap Decoration Rules
- The class of 2022 will be allowed to decorate their caps this year.
- The following expectations are appropriate for individual caps: thanking a parent, grandparent, teacher, and/or friend; recognizing the university you will be attending; the graduation year; the branch of the military you will attend; your home country's flag

- Designs must be submitted in advance using the online form below (students must be logged into their outlook accounts to access the submission form)
- Students MUST bring their decorated caps to graduation practice on June 10th for final approval.
- Any inappropriate cap will cause the student to be removed from the graduation ceremony.
- Please use the button below to submit your cap design.
Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal on Friday, June 10th at 8:00 a.m. in the Gym
- All students participating in graduation MUST attend this MANDATORY Graduation practice.
- If you decorated your cap you need to bring your cap to practice for final evaluation & check.
- We practice until we get it right!
- Practice normally ends around 11:00 a.m.
The Graduation Ceremony
C. D. Hylton Senior High School Commencement Exercises (Graduation)
- Students MUST arrive by 7:30 AM.
- Doors open to guests at 8:30 AM
- Ceremony begins promptly at 9:30 AM.
- Seniors should enter through the Loading Dock Area Service Entrance (outside) and to the right of the South Entrance. Students need to enter and report to their line leader on the arena floor by 7:30 AM at the latest.

Congratulations to Ms. Christine Terenchin, nominated by the senior class to deliver the 2022 graduation address!
Transportation & Parking Information
Transportation to the Graduation Event
- Seniors are expected to provide their own transportation to this event
- We will provide one school bus for parents and seniors that have no other transportation.
- This bus will depart Hylton at 7:00 a.m.
- Seating will be reserved as requested. Family size may be limited depending upon the number of requests.
- Please see Ms. Rivera in the CISL office off of A-street across from the library to sign-up to ride the bus to the event.
Parking at Eagle Bank Arena
General Information about Parking:
- GMU has ample parking at this facility
- Parking lots are monitored by GMU staff
- Students and guests will be directed to the most available lot.
- Please follow staff directions to prevent traffic backups and delays.
- Come early! Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Parking for Individuals with Special Needs
- Parking spaces for guests with disabilities are available.
- Van accessible parking spaces are located adjacent to the South entrance.
- All vehicles must display state-issued access tags or placards to park in these spaces.
- There are no steps or ramps to maneuver in order to enter the arena
Tickets & Seating Information:
Tickets & Seating
- We will NOT be issuing tickets to this event.
- This venue has a 10,000 seat capacity
Seating:
- Seating in general is on a first arrival/first come basis for this event.
- Handicapped seating is located throughout the arena, if you or any of your party are in need of accommodations in seating please speak to an Eagle Bank Arena/GMU attendant when you arrive.
- A few seats are reserved to accommodate special needs such as the hearing/visually impaired. If you are in need of services such as an ASL interpreter please contact Mrs. Campagna or Mrs. Rivera in the CISL office as soon as possible so we can plan to accommodate these needs.

- This photographer will capture professional graduation photos at the podium and candid photos of students crossing the stage.
- These photographs are available for purchase.

- This company will be recording and streaming the graduation ceremony.

Order forms are available on the Senior Web Page, during all senior events, and during the day of the ceremony in the arena.
Seniors: What to Wear to Graduation!
- ALL white attire, white shoes, you may wear sandals, but they need to be dress sandals. No flip flops! We also recommend flats and low-heeled shoes.
- White cap and gown with white tassel.
- You may want to use white or silver hairpins to hold the cap on.
Students wearing Blue Gowns please wear:
- A white dress shirt (collar, short sleeve), tie, dark slacks, no jeans, dark socks/dress shoes or dark colored dress and dark dress shoes
- Blue cap and gown with blue tassel
All Students please keep in mind:
- The cap should be worn straight on the head, do not tilt it to the side or back.
- Personal jewelry can be worn if it is tasteful and it cannot be worn outside of the gown
Students are ONLY permitted to wear honors and decorations that have been approved of and issued by the school. No exceptions.
Seniors: What NOT to Bring to Graduation!
- Handbags, cameras, cell phones, etc.
- Balloons, air horns, and noise makers because these items are NOT allowed in the arena.
We will provide a place to leave keys if necessary but don't forget to retrieve them immediately following the ceremony!
Seniors: Expected Behavior at Graduation
Discuss with family and guests the importance of refraining from making loud and excessive noises that distract and interrupt the ceremony.
