Cougar families,

It’s hard to believe we are starting the last quarter of this school year! It has flown by so fast and we are so proud of our students and their resilience this year. As we begin this last quarter, we encourage students to keep working hard and doing their best.

As we begin to move into the spring and testing season we will be communicating more about what STAAR will look like this year. Please keep reading our newsletters for information and remind your neighbors and friends to read it too. We will do our best to keep you up to date and informed.

Device Return information:

• For in-person learners, in preparation for the end of the school year and STAAR testing dates, we are currently collecting all Chromebooks and/or laptops that have been distributed to in person learner students during this school year. If you are an in person learner you will need to turn in your Chromebook and/or laptop and charging cable to your Tracks teacher no later than March 19th.
  
  
• For at-home learners, we will not collect Chromebooks or laptops until the end of the school year. If you have checked out a Chromebook or laptop to use at home please be aware that on STAAR testing days you will be required to bring that device to Curtis to participate in STAAR testing.

Allen ISD will hold a special election, known as an Attendance Credit Election, on May 1 seeking voter approval for the district to pay recapture by purchasing attendance credit from the State with local tax revenue. An attendance credit is simply the name given for a district to equalize its wealth through recapture payments.

The Curtis PTA will award two $500 scholarships to college bound Allen High School graduating seniors who attended Curtis Middle School for at least one full year.

Applications are due no later than 3 pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.

The COVID pandemic has brought many challenges to our communities and schools. As we navigate our way into 2021, our youth are bearing stress of unprecedented proportion. Terah will review coping skills and techniques to find calm. Signs and symptoms of stress will also be discussed.
