❤️Capturing Kids' Hearts❤️
The CKH Leadworthy Character Word for August/September is EMPATHY.
Empathy is defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Our students who are exceptionally empathetic throughout August/September are likely to be chosen as the Leadworthy Spotlight Winner for their class. Winners get to have a special lunch with the principals!
Please encourage your child to lead with great character each day!

📣WE NEED YOUR HELP!📣
Please do not drop students off before 7:15am. We have had parents drop students off, and they are left unattended. This is unacceptable and unsafe. School staff is not on duty until 7:15am.
Our instructional day begins at 7:45am, and our tardy bell rings at 7:50am. Please have your students dropped off by 7:50. Students are missing valuable instructional time when they are tardy or absent.
Please have your child to school by 7:15am, and no later than 7:30am, if they wish to eat breakfast.
Our school day ends at 3:10pm. Please make sure your child is picked up no later than 3:30pm, as our faculty and staff also have children and families they must get home to and care for.
Please remain in your car, at all times, and drive around to the unloading/loading area during drop-off or pick-up. Teachers and staff will get students out of the car or put them in the car. Do not park in the parking lot and walk them to the porch. Every parent must follow the same procedure of driving through the car line. It is not unfair when one or more choose to not adhere to the expectations.
All transportation changes must be made in the office, no later than 1:30pm, unless there is an emergency. Please call the office to let us know that your child will be getting home a different way than normal. Classroom teachers may not get your message in time, so please do not rely on them to relay the message or make the change.
- Reiterate the importance of following school expectations to your students. Here is our HCES School-wide Behavior Matrix that students use as a daily guide to assist with monitoring their behavior. Students who fail to adhere to the expectations of our school and district will receive white notes and/or office referrals. We don’t want that, so please talk with your child and provide consequences when they get notes or phone calls regarding inappropriate or undesirable behavior.
- As of September 5, students who don't receive office referrals/visits or white notes will attend our Nine Week Behavior Bash at the end of October. It's going to be HUGE, so encourage your child, each day, to follow classroom and school expectations so they won't miss out. We want everyone to attend!!!

Nurse's News
IMPORTANT:
- All medications have to be brought in by a parent/guardian. Students are not allowed to bring medication to school.
- Reminder to have all immunizations and kindergarten physicals turned in by October 2nd.
- Please have medical information cards turned into the nurses office soon. This card contains information that the school needs in an emergency if we are unable to contact a parent.
- We will be conducting a drill called Project Adam September 21st. This is only a drill for emergencies using a mannequin and our AED so we can be prepared! There will also be emergency personnel showing up to the school as well. Remember, this is only a drill.
- If your child is running a fever or vomiting, our policy is for them to stay home for 24 hours fever/vomiting free without the use of medication. This ensures our staff and other kids do not get sick.
Any questions, feel free to contact me (Nurse Crosby)!
