Update

Students from AHLF Junior High and Southwest Middle School have been working together for four months in preparation for the 2023 Searcy FIRST Lego League Qualifier! The event will be held at the Harding Academy Harris Gym from 9:00 to 5:00, with a one hour lunch break at 12:00. Everyone is invited to attend for free, and watch 21 teams from around our state compete with robot missions and innovation projects! McRae Elementary School honored our brave veterans with a Veterans Day parade. Ellis Anne, Carver, and Walker Yancey were joined by 99-year-old World War II veteran, Mr. Harley Bridger, who just recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Third grader, Libby Cossey, was joined by three special veterans. We were thrilled to have so many veterans join us for this event!

The AJHS National Jr. Honor Society held an assembly today to honor our community's veterans. Major General Jonathan Stubbs, 54th Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard spoke to the students, our 8th grade band and a special AJHS Mixed Choir performed. At the closing of the ceremony, Major General Stubbs honored our students who currently have a parent deployed.

The Searcy football program recently participated in a community service project that included providing Christmas for an Angel Tree family and Shenandoah House. Thank you for your giving spirit!

Westside Elementary School first grade held its Campfire Stories event. First grade students invited parents, community members, and district staff to hear them read stories around a "campfire" and enjoy s'mores. What a fun way to encourage literacy!

Congratulations to the Sidney Deener child nutrition staff for being the 2023 recipient of the Golden Gobbler award! Kitchens across the district competed for the "best" turkey and dressing and fixings at our annual Thanksgiving meal, and Deener took the award! Love the fun our child nutrition dept. has all the time. And ALL meals were AMAZING!!

Father-Daughter Fairy Ball tickets in advance have been extended until Tuesday, December 5. Prices will be increased if purchased on the night of the event.

Southwest Middle School is proud of their students for growing in literacy and improving reading scores. Sixth grade students who have shown growth were recently celebrated!

Congratulations to Searcy Varsity Cheer for placing first in Southern Spirit Federation's competition at Alma High School on November 18! The SHS Cheer is coached by Shannon Holeyfield and Trisha White.
