January is a very busy month with many scheduled events. Please see our "Mark your Calendars" section below. We welcome you to attend any or all of the events which feature many of our CES Scholars. *please stay in your vehicle and allow your child to independently enter and exit the vehicle
*our crosswalk at the main entrance needs to remain clear so please refrain from stopping over the crosswalk area.

PTA Movie Night
Elementary Magnet Program Overview Session
Parents/guardians of students currently in Grades 2 through 4 are invited to the annual FCPS Magnet Program Overview. This overview, for adults only, covers the characteristics of gifted students and the magnet application processes for the 2020-2021 school year. FCPS will provide interpreters upon request. Please indicate the need for an interpreter via the RSVP link below, and submit it no later than January 10. Disabled parking spaces are located at the front of the building.

STEAM Night
STEAM Night - A Winter Wonderland
Date: January 23, 2020 Time: 6pm-7:30pm
Come join us for a night of learning and fun as we investigate winter through STEAM.
S - (science) investigate winter through Penguin Science, Snow Science, and Arctic Warmth investigations
T - (technology) investigate winter through coding - practice using coding mice then work through Hour of Code activities
E - (engineering) investigate winter through designing a snowball launcher, a sled, and a fort
A - (art) investigate winter through creating chalk drawings of snowflakes
M - (math) investigate winter by solving winter tangram puzzles, build 3D shapes, solve toothpick puzzles and play the Game of Nim
There will be a science photobooth where students can pose for pictures with a science themed background, and sessions to help students prepare for the science fair.

Jump Rope for Centerville
Jump Rope for Centerville Starts Today!
Students will be receiving an envelope containing information today in their Thursday Folders.
This is a physically active fundraiser that will raise money for the Centerville Elementary School Physical Education Department. A portion of the proceeds collected will also be donated to the Greater Urbana Food Bank!
Cash or check donations can be placed in the envelope or donations can be made online.
Students who are planning to collect online donations will need to create their own “participants page” using the following link. https://app.99pledges.com/fund/centervill10/addme
You may then send your page to friends and family by Email, Text, Facebook, and Twitter!
