Dear Gibraltar Elementary Families,

I'm so excited to be back at school! Thank you so much to those families that reached out to us. We welcomed our daughter Elowyn Ward on Jan. 20th. The last five weeks have been incredibly special for our family and we are grateful for all the kindness and love from the Gibraltar family.

March at Gibraltar always feels like a transition time. We are weeks away from the Wisconsin Forward test (grades 3-5) and then we roll into a much needed Spring Break. Basketball seasons are winding down, which means spring sports and activities are right around the corner. By the end of the month, snow will begin to melt (maybe!) and daffodils and tulips will start to emerge. The hunkering down and off-season traveling will make way for another busy season in northern Door County. It's a powerful time to reinforce routines and take stock of how far our students have come this school year.

There is No School on March 7th. This is the ACT testing day for high school juniors, and the school board chose this day for Teacher Professional Development.

On Thursday, March 9, 2023, Gibraltar Area School District will hold a spring parent teacher conference between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Parent Teacher Conferences are an important way to stay connected with your child's learning progress each school year. Spring Conferences are only one night. If a time slot next Thursday evening does not work for your family, and you'd like to meet with a teacher via Zoom at another time, please reach out directly.

Your child's homeroom teacher will be sending home a conference request form this week if they feel a conference is necessary at this time.

Additionally, at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening, there will be a school referendum information session and tour of the school building with Mrs. Ward, Head of Maintenance Eric Warner, and other staff. Dr. Stousland will be present at 6:00 for a welcome and introduction.

Trimester 2 ends next week! Please watch your child's backpack mail for their Trimester 2 Report Card. Reach out to your child's homeroom and/or specials teachers if you have any questions.
