We are honored to announce our STAR student for the 19-20 school year as Haley Keller! Haley scored the highest SAT score in her graduating class of 2020, also scoring the highest in Bryan County! She will go on to compete at the Georgia Southern Regional Event next week. Dr. Brooksher paid Haley a surprise visit to announce her accomplishment during class. The Lion’s Club then later honored her at our faculty meeting, awarding her a $500 scholarship as well! Haley was asked to choose a STAR teacher to attribute her success to, and she lovingly chose Mrs. Sonya Compton. Congrats to Haley and Mrs. Compton for these great achievements!

Daylight Savings time begins this weekend, which means our clocks will move forward one hour early Sunday morning. Please make sure all of your clocks get reset correctly.

Rising Senior Night (Class of 2021)

March 10th, 2020

School counselors will be sharing a wealth of information for our juniors as they prepare for senior year and graduation. Topics include GA Futures, the college search and application process, dual enrollment, scholarships and grants, military options, work opportunities, and important dates for rising seniors as the countdown to graduation begins! We’ll also have guest speakers provide information about senior portraits, caps and gowns, senior invites, and yearbooks.

Seniors received the “Countdown to Graduation” in advisement this week. If you have any questions regarding senior walk, the senior meeting or the graduation ceremony , please email Mrs. Goldrick at sgoldrick@bryan.k12.ga.us. More information will continue to be released as we get closer to graduation day.

Prom is quickly approaching and will be held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on March 28, 2020.

For Students who have PAID their dues:

• Paid dues covers only that student’s ticket.
• A guest ticket for an approved guest will be $50
• Students will pick up the ticket(s) in the east cafeteria during lunch from March 2, 2020 – March 6, 2020.

For Students who have not paid their dues by February 14, 2020

• That student can buy a ticket on MPP for $125
• A guest ticket for a student that has not paid their dues is also $125
• Students will pick up the ticket (s) in the east cafeteria during lunch from March 2, 2020 – March 6, 2020.

For any student who is registering a guest that does not attend RHHS:

• Prom guest registration form that was given out in December, must be completed and given to Mr. Harmon before 2/14/2020. This form is also on the school website -> STUDENTS AND PARENTS -> PROM INFORMATION

Soon, RHHS Beta Club will be holding a celebration and pep rally to grant the wish of a local child! Beta Club is selling t-shirts to help increase the donation to Make-A-Wish Georgia. It would be GREAT to have kids and adults wearing these Wildcats for Wishes t-shirts when we celebrate the family for Make-A-Wish!

The tshirts must be purchased one-at-a-time on MyPaymentsPlus under “fundraisers,” available in blue, gray, or black and in youth sizes—4X.

Stay tuned, and we will share the exact date of the celebration and the family receiving the wish!

Monday and Tuesday, March 16 and 17, are student holidays. Students return on Wednesday, March 18th. Enjoy the extended time with your children!

Friday, March 27th, 2020 will be a digital learning day for all seniors. Seniors are not expected to attend campus on this day. Teachers of seniors will post the digital learning assignment to Google Classroom by March 20th. This assignment must be completed by 3:00 pm March 27th, in order for the student to be marked present and be eligible for exam exemption.

Cap & Gown make-up/retake picture day is schedule for April 20 from 3-6pm at the Lifetouch Studio located in Pooler, GA. These are by appointment only. To request an appointment, please email Temini Johnson at troy@lifetouch.com

April is designated as the Month of the Military Child; a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. At Richmond Hill High School, we value our military community, especially our military youth and all they endure. To show our support, we invite our students, parents/guardians, and staff members to honor our military youth for their resilience and sacrifice by purchasing a t-shirt for only $5 and participating in “Purple Up for Military Kids Day” on April 15th, 2020. At RHHS, many of our juniors and seniors are well into their college preparation. Most are in the process of taking the ACT and SAT - and others are already visiting colleges independently and filling out applications.

RHHS is excited to be offering monthly college field trip opportunities this year to eligible juniors and seniors on a first come/first serve basis for the first 35 students to register.

RHHS junior and senior applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Passing all classes with a 70 or higher

2. No more than 3 tardies

3. No more than 3 excused absences *

Login is the same now for both faculty AND students. Our old Overdrive page is no longer active, so please update your bookmarks to include the new RESA collection!

Tutorial/detention runs from 2:40 – 4:15 every Monday through Thursday. Students who are on the obligations list for owing detention should plan to stay after school to meet their obligation as soon as possible. Students may also come to this program for extra help from content area teachers. On Mondays, students can receive help in math. An English/Language Arts teacher will be available on Tuesdays. On Wednesday, students can have tutoring in science and Thursdays are Social Studies tutoring.

Fee waivers are available for students on free/reduced lunch. Students should talk to their counselor for more information.
