Dear PMS Families,

Thank you to all who were able to attend Back To School Night! I hope it was valuable and you enjoyed meeting your child's teachers! It was so nice to have parents in the hallways being part of our TEAM! If you weren't able to attend, you can email your child's teachers and setup a meeting time!

Please thank your child for how well they behaved during our fire drill this week. They were at a level 0 and listened to all directions. This week we will have our lockdown drill on Wednesday during ACCT. We completed one the first week of school and this will be our second of the year. We will go over all procedures and expectations prior to the drill and provide feedback after the drill.

We need your help. Some students are bringing speakers to school and turning them on in the hallway. We've collected many; however, can you please speak to your student about not bringing speakers to school? We are focusing on teaching and learning and want to keep disruptions to a minimum. Thank you for your help with this!

• September 25th: Professional development day for teachers and a holiday for students.
• September 28th: Band spirit night from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Chick-fil-a in Westchester Commons.
• October 26th and 27th: Fall picture day! Pictures will be taken during PE classes.
• December 7th: Fall picture make-up date.

If you are interested in making Powhatan Middle School an incredible school to attend by leading and representing the students here, the Student Leadership Club is a group you should consider joining!

We need committed, positive, and responsible people that want to work hard to improve our school community by planning and implementing schoolwide activities such as spirit week, spirit days, dances, and community service opportunities. You must be a student with passing grades and no behavior issues. Members will meet during ACCT and occasionally after school*. (*not mandatory)

Applications are due NO LATER than Monday, September 18, 2022 at 2:30. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Auditions for Powhatan High School's production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL are open to PMS students! Auditions will be held Tuesday, September 12th after school in the Chorus room. 2023 Powhatan Middle Dodgeball Tournament

Get ready to DIVE, DUCK & DODGE in our schoolwide dodgeball tournament!

Form a team of 6-8 people and REGISTER HERE with a team name. Powhatan Middle School Students, Parents, Teachers, and Staff are all invited to play! Come in themed uniforms, athletic shoes, and ready to play!

When? Tuesday, October 3rd, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Where? Powhatan Middle School Gym

Cost? $5 per person to PLAY or WATCH; cash or card at the door
