School safety
On Wednesday, I needed to make a decision about communicating with students. Do I mention the tragedy in Texas and that we are there to support the students or do I say nothing, not in the hopes that it will go away but to not make our students more anxious about being safe in school. I chose the first option but only after having a staff meeting before school started to explain my reasoning. I let the staff know that Mrs. Krajewski, our school counselor, and I would be available for any students at any time today if they needed to talk. Our school is safe with security features that I'm not going to disclose. Just know that they are there. I'm sure as parents that you struggled about how or if to speak with your children about Texas. If you'd like some guidance, here is a link to some suggestions based on your child's age. Make sure to give your child an extra hug today.
4 way stop at Main Street and Sussex Road
*This is a repeat from the last two weeks. I have made this my location in the mornings to help as things are better but need to improve even more. The safety of our students crossing this intersection is of utmost interest to me. Please slow down, remind your friends and their children to slow down, and keep an eye out for me in my fluorescent yellow vest and stop sign. Thank you!
I need your assistance with something. Now that the weather has warmed up, there are more students riding their bikes and walking to school. The morning is an especially concerning time as there is also more traffic due to people traveling to work. Our crossing guards do an amazing job keeping our students safe. Please be attentive and respectful of our crossing guards and our students. Our crossing guards wear bright yellow vests and carry a stop sign. Treat them like a police officer directing traffic so that we make it through the rest of the school year without any incidents at our 4 way stop. Thank you for your consideration.

Dousman Transport is hiring bus drivers
As we look forward to future staffing and the possibility of some driver retirements, we were hoping that you could run a notice for “driving the bus” in your weekly newsletter or other forms of parent/community communication publications. The bus driving opportunity is perfect for stay at home moms, retirees, and others who work part time or have mornings or afternoons free.
