Wellness at French Creek
May 2019
May 1st is Wellness Wednesday!
Students can wear their favorite Owen J. Roberts Spirit Wear. There will be a fitness activity at recess.
The Wellness Committee is celebrating Remember to Unplug Week April 29th –May 5th. Parents and students are reminded to Unplug this week to Connect, Learn, Play, and Unplug for Health. Screen-free connections don’t have to take a lot of time; they can happen easily every day:
· Chat on the way home in the car.
· Cook meals together. Kids love stirring and measuring.
· Share songs and stories during bath time.
Children who spend less time with screens do better in school, have more time for creative play and interacting with caring adults, two activities essential to learning. Choose books without added noises and moving pictures-let kids imagine on their own. Children who spend less time with screens:
· Fall asleep faster
· Sleep longer
· Eat healthier
· Get more exercise
Your child will receive a brochure with these tips and more! For additional information, please visit commercialfreechildhood.org.
Spring is the perfect time to shop for fresh produce and vegetables. Check out the Chester County guide highlighting 120 local farms and markets:

A shout out to the two farms down the road from French Creek. Both are CSAs - Kneehigh Farms grows and sells vegetables, flowers and other goods. Ironstone Creamery sells meat: chicken, pork and beef. You can also purchase items from Kneehigh Farms without being part of the CSA. Just stop by during their open hours. Their CSA runs a bit differently too-you get a credit each week that you can use to purchase the items you want rather than getting a selected group of items. IronStone Creamery has different sizes for their CSA depending on your needs.
