Avilla Elementary Family Newsletter
November 2023
Avilla Families,
Every November we honor our community veterans and last year we created a new tradition. A Veterans' breakfast and honor walking parade will take place on Friday, November 10. More information is below and we ask that families RSVP to this event so that we can have an accurate amount of food and space ready. We are proud to support our Veterans!
Our Thanksgiving holiday is coming up. We only have two school days that week on Monday and Tuesday, November 20 and 21. There is no school from November 22-24. We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
You can find a lot of school event and school day pictures online on our Facebook page. Simply search for Avilla Elementary and give us a follow.
Please contact me if you have any questions or feedback for me to consider. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's growth!

A Message From our Avilla Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)
The Avilla PTO would like to thank everyone that attended our skate night at the Skatin’ Station on 10/18/23. It was a great success and tons of fun! The PTO has also wrapped up Donuts with Grown ups on 10/27/23. We had a great turnout on each of the 3 days we held the event in October. A huge shoutout goes to all of the volunteers that helped make this event possible! We can’t be successful without our volunteers! Also, during October the PTO had a Boo-Gram fundraiser to assist in raising funds for the new playground! Thank you to everyone who participated! This fundraiser was a great success! We sold and delivered approximately 645 Boo-Grams to students on 10/31/23. We will have final numbers available within the next few weeks. Upcoming events will include popcorn fundraiser for K-5 coming up in November. There will be 2 events November 10th for K-2 and November 17th for 3-5. Cost for the popcorn will be $1. More information will the coming home soon. The PTO would like to acknowledge our head custodian Mr. Dean Huth. He has been instrumental in helping to make our PTO events run smoothly and successfully! Mr. Huth has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us in many ways. THANK YOU Mr. Huth! We could not do what we do without you! Avilla Elementary is beyond lucky to have you! Your passion for helping is appreciated more than you can imagine! If you would like to volunteer and be a part of the Avilla PTO come on out! We would love to have you! Our next meeting is on 11/6/23 at 3:30 in the school library! Car Line Reminders
Our car line is very long in the morning and afternoon. Our number one priority is student safety. If you are picking up or dropping off your child, please do not park in our lot across the street and walk across to the sidewalk. This creates safety and time issues for our line. We need everyone to join the car line and remain in cars for safety and efficiency. Here are a few tips to keep your time in line shorter:
- Please do not allow your students to leave your car until adult supervision is visible on the sidewalk in the morning. There is no supervision before our doors open.
- Consider joining our line closer to drop off and pick up times. On Mondays our doors open at 8:30 and Tuesday through Friday at 7:45. Arriving in advance will simply lead to waiting in line.
- We dismiss daily at 2:45. Our preschool families need the car line space for their afternoon dismissal.
