Principal's Messages
Greetings CRS School Community!
Amazingly, the first two months of the school year are already in our rearview! Our staff and students have been hard at work on learning outcomes and it has been fun to see the quality learning experiences that have been going on in the classrooms. We also had our first round of Parent-Teacher Interviews a couple of weeks ago and I want to thank our families for their engagement - we had over 85% turnout! We look forward to opportunities to welcome families into our building and to talk about the good work that is being done in classes and how to move forward to improve students' learning even more!
And now November has arrived, which is always an important month in elementary school as a time when important work gets done ahead of the Christmas season. (Yes, it does feel crazy to mention that already!) There is also a lot happening during the month of November. Grade 5 volleyball continues, we will be observing Remembrance Day on Nov. 8, the Fall Break takes place Nov. 9-15, and our entire student population is headed to cheer on the Camrose Kodiaks at Hockey Hooky on Nov. 22. It will be a busy month, indeed!
November also tends to be a month when the weather shifts significantly and we can expect dropping temperatures and snow. Please ensure that students are coming to school prepared for outside recess breaks with weather-appropriate clothing. Inevitably, some students will have identical items and things do get dropped or forgotten in boot rooms and on the playground so it is also very helpful when items are labelled. This may or may not be possible for every item but the more we can keep out of our lost and found bin, the better!
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out when you have questions or if there is something that you would like to discuss!
Yours in Education,
Reid Lansing
Principal - Chester Ronning School
Meet a few of our staff each month!

Years at CRS: This is my first year!
Favourite subject when I wasin elementary school: Social Studies
A book I recommend parents read with their children: "When Sophie Thinks She Can't" by Molly Bang. This book teaches children that when they are struggling, it often means their brains are growing and getting stronger. Instead of saying "I can't do that," we should learn that you just can't do something YET!

School photos
If parents are calling asking questions about their fall photos status, errors on their orders, or how to place orders, please have them call our Lifetouch Customer Care line at 1.866.457.8212 or go to our ordering website, www.mylifetouch.ca
NEW Way of accessing your child’s images online:
Lifetouch Photography is excited to announce the launch of a new way to access photos online. After much safety and security testing, Lifetouch developed a way for families to access their child’s photo using their student ID number.
Go to our website at www.mylifetouch.ca, click on Student ID and follow the detailed instructions to view and order photos.
If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the live chat on our website, www.mylifetouch.ca
Parents can still access their photos online by using their child’s portrait ID and access code. By enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, gives people another way to access photos if they lose their proof sheet.
Picture Retakes
Picture Retakes are on November 23! If your child needs a retake, please send a note to the teacher. The photo company also asks that you return the picture-proof package so they can see what might have been the problem and hope to take a better second try. KTT students needing a retake can come from 9-9:30 am. All other students needing a retake will go after that.
Do you want a 22-23 Yearbook? CRS Needs Volunteers.
The cost to produce continues to go up reflecting an increase in the purchase price to parents. It is also something that each year we have fewer orders, so the price for families to purchase increases.
Health and Wellness
One of the messages was: Make sure everyone is included and nobody is playing alone. If you see someone by themselves at recess, ask them to join you!
School Communication
School Messenger - please text the word "YES" to the number 978-338 to start receiving texts from the school. (standard text message data rates may apply) We often use this to send school reminders about early dismissal days, newsletters, hot lunch reminders, or in the case of a school-wide emergency, this is how we would be in touch with our school families initially in an efficient manner.
If you have signed up but are not receiving the texts or emails, please email Janeece, our admin assistant at jmackay@brsd.ab.ca
