January 10, 2024
Principal's Corner
We would like to wish our families a Happy New Year. We hope 2024 is off to a good start and everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Break.
January will be a busy month, particularly for our Grade 9-12 students. They will finish their semester work and complete their final exams, including Provincial Achievement Tests in Grade 9 and the Diploma Exams in Grade 12. An exam calendar is included in the newsletter. Permission slips to leave following exams are also being sent home with students in Grades 10-12. This will allow students to leave following any exams scheduled between January 24th-26th. Students are highly encouraged to increase their study time in the coming weeks and check in with their teachers for assistance. They should also check PowerSchool for any missing assignments that need to be completed prior to the end of the semester.
Sports have resumed after the break. We hosted the Lloyd Sather basketball tournament this past weekend. Our girls won their side of the tournament. Our boys also had a great tournament and represented themselves and our school well. Thank you to Mrs. Tobler for her time and effort in organizing the tournament and our many volunteers who donated time and food.
We look forward to watching our basketball teams over the next couple of months.
The weather has undoubtedly transformed into Winter this week. Please remind students, both young and old, to wear appropriate winter clothing to school. If buses happen to be cancelled, students, particularly in Grades 9-12, are expected to continue their learning. All students can check their Google Classrooms for work to complete or get caught up on. Teachers would also be available through Google Meet and email upon request.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please connect with us in the office.

Gr. 9-12 January Exam Schedule
Winter Attire
Parents are reminded that Board policy requires all students who ride the bus to wear (or carry) clothing suitable for the weather conditions. This includes headgear, hand covering, and appropriate footwear. Students who arrive at school inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to ride home or to/from sporting events or school planned field trips until they have proper gear dropped off or are picked up by a parent.
Bus Delays & Cancellations
As we enter the season of weather related bus delays and cancellations, BRSD would like to remind parents to check their school website or the BRSD website for updates. If there is a change to the schedule it will appear in an ALERT banner at the top of the website. If there is no banner, all routes are running as scheduled. Every family affected by a bus route delay or cancellation also receives an automated phone message.
School Council Meeting
The next School Council Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 17th at 7:00pm in the Learning Commons.
