Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.
Snapshot News:
Year 7 Katie
Year 7 student Katie W and her dog Koko (Fyglia Cherished Dream) won 1st place in yearling at the Border Collie club of GB Breed Championship Show on 5th September. Koko was also placed 4th in the Junior class and Katie got a 4th handling Koko's mum in another class. Being placed 1st has meant that Katie and Koko have now qualified for Crufts on 10th March 2022.
Year 8 English
This is a poem written by Trafford in In Year 8. During their English lessons students attempted to write their own poetry inspired by the work of John Agard and their exploration of cultural poetry.

Subject Highlights:
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Evie, Jennifer and Vladimir for excellent work calculating with fractions.
Mr Lee has nominated Year 8 student Erica for her excellent responses during our whole class discussion about links between mathematical topics. Also nominated are Year 11 students Annie, Thomas, Sam, Oscar H and Nathan for their excellent work with the our session 6 exam practice lesson. They made lots of notes are were able to score highly in their follow-up assessment.
English:
Mrs Rice has nominated Year 11 students Avantika, Nikodem, James, and Sai for excellent homework essays and Jayme- Lei, Emma, Gus and Layla for their excellent question 2 responses. Also nominated is Year 9 student Chloe for her wonderful understanding, work and contribution in her English lessons and Rhys G for excellent reading aloud in his English lessons.
In Year 10 Media Studies students have been trying their hand at creating a music media production piece. Mrs Brown is very pleased with student's designs. Some especially good work from Dylan S, Alex B, Devandre and Seth.
Miss Lodge has nominated 7SW for their excellent English work this week, especially their attitude towards reading. They have been fantastic so far this term and are always happy to read to the class and contribute their brilliant ideas. Also nominated are Callum B, Cameron B, Saul, Jason, and Daniel C (Year 11) for their excellent start to English this term. Miss Lodge has been so impressed with their commitment to their English studies in year 11. Keep up the great work!
Music:
8CA made excellent progress on ukulele this week. A special mention to Gabriella, Max, Dawid, Roisin, Calin, K-Jay for switching between chords/technical knowledge
9CA have been composing their own leitmotif. The class have shown great resilience in learning how to use GarageBand. A special mention to Roman & Holly
7SI have been practicing a performance of Drunken Sailor this week. I was very impressed with how brilliantly they worked in smaller groups!
Humanities:
Mr Hallas would like to nominate 7SI for their amazing questions in Geography this week. The level of interest they showed in the topic ‘Big Bang Theory’ was brilliant to see, as was the level of detail in their written work. Well done 7SI for such a great lesson.
Miss Gilbert has made the following nominations this week:
10C for their creative skills in drawing the many diagrams surrounding coasts in geography for the past two weeks.
8CU for showing constant enthusiasm for the subject especially Hayden and Emily.
8TU for their longer writing answers in the comprehension task especially Charlie and Jasmine.

9CO RE students for their excellent contribution to the lesson and classroom discussion.
Year 11 RE students for their excellent questions and contribution to the lessons and taking a real interest in the topic we are studying. Keep up the great work.
Year 10 Sociology students Kent, Seth, Ella, and Rhian for their excellent contribution to classroom discussion and excellent pieces of work this week well done.

Science:
Year 12 student Lukas V for excellent completion of homework and notes for future learning.
Year 11 student Oscar S for excellent work on the independent practical task during a staff absence.
Year 10 student Julia D for great work at attempting all questions and providing answers in Chemistry.
Year 9 student Bailey for excellent effort and technical knowledge
Year 8 student Mason C who is always expands on the topics that we are going through in class; providing extracurricular examples and always shows a good in-depth understanding of the topics.
Year 7 student Natalia J for excellent team work and focus during practical lessons.
PE:
Miss Williams would like to say well done to the students who came to dance club this week for their energy and commitment to learning fast choreography.
Mr Rogers has nominated Year 12 Sport students have made an excellent start to the course. Also nominated are Kaden 10CA, Riley 10TE and Josh 10TE who demonstrated excellent leadership skills in their PE lessons. Year 10 boys attended football practice this week and showed excellent maturity in the drills that will have a significant impact on the teams performance.
Sixth Form:
Well done to Eimantas in Year 13 and Ewan in Year 12 for making full use of the facilities in the Sixth Form Centre. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday all sixth formers can continue to work in school for an extra hour, should they wish to do so.
