North Side Family Flyer
March 2021
Three Months to go.......and looking into next school year!!!
Can you believe it is March?! This year is flying by! For those parents of students in grades 3-5, we are entering state testing season.......and the state says YES, we will test!
IREAD-3 testing will take place the week of March 8th-12th. All students in grades 3rd-5th will start taking practice tests for ILEARN during the month of March. When we return from spring break in April, the ILEARN testing window will be open. We will start testing approximately 4-5 days after we are back in session. If you recall, due to the Covid shutdown last year, state testing is NEW to both 3rd and 4th graders this year.
Please encourage your child(ren) to do their best, take their time and if they don't know....make an educated guess. Of course, you can ensure they eat a balanced breakfast, please remember, we provide free breakfast at school each morning! Make sure the kids get a good night sleep and tell them how proud you are of them no matter what!
NOW - for all of our families K-5.......we are already looking at next school year. If you have an incoming kindergarten student or know somebody who has an incoming kindergartner, please complete or share this link, https://tinyurl.com/ENSCKindergarten2021. Currently, we are collecting names of incoming students.
We will hold a kindergarten Round-Up on on Wednesday, April 21st. More Information will be sent out soon to those families who sign up on the link above.
The district is also taking names for the 2021-2022 pre-school. Please visit our district Facebook page for both a video tour of the phenomenal pre-school experience you can't get anywhere near here and the link to sign up.
Please reach out if you have any questions regarding state testing or kindergarten sign-up for next year. Our office number is (260) 347-1354 and my e-mail is sleasure@eastnoble.net.
Spring break is just around the corner!

Attendance
Student attendance is very important! With Covid and the CDC guidelines for quarantine, this year has been a tough year with attending in person. However, our district is very lucky that we are advanced in technology and are able to provide our students with instruction and assignments while at home. Please make sure students are completing this work if they are at home due to Covid or quarantine. Students may also access the work if they are home for other illness as well.
Please understand that if students miss school due to vacation or any other reason besides illness, this is counted as part of our EN attendance policy as stated in the handbook.
Safety
Safety is a priority at North Side as well as every school in the East Noble School Corporation. We want each student, staff member, and visitor to feel safe when coming into our school. Please remember that all doors are locked during the school day. If you would need to come to the school, you may call and let the office know your reason for being at the school and someone will meet and help you at your vehicle.
We also continue to practice drills every month to ensure that students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency. The month of February was full of drills, including a fire drill, bus evacuations, and a lockdown. Students did a great job!
Please contact me if you ever have any questions on the drills we practice or how we are keeping your child safe in our school environment during Covid-19 protocols.
Please consider signing up. Help earn cash for North Side, sign-up at https://www.caseys.com/schools today!
DEVICE EXPECTATIONS and CARE REMINDERS:
We are having some issues with devices coming to school and not being charged. Please make sure that your child(ren) are charging their device every night before they go to bed. It is their responsibility to come ot school with a fully charged device so that it is ready to be used in the school setting. Also, devices must come to school daily with the students, they use them every day in the classroom! These are an East Noble issued device and should be used for school purposes, not for personal use! Parents sign an agreement at the beginning of the school year agreeing to this. Please feel free to revisit the student handbook section on technology to refresh yourself on the expectations.
We appreciate your help with this!
Counseling Corner with Miss Headley:
Parents - PLEASE continue to send masks to school with your children.
We practice social distancing
We wash hands and use hand sanitizer often.
Nurses Corner:
Parents - please continue to stay cautious of Covid symptoms and call me if you are unsure!
You may reach me by e-mail at waumsbaugh@eastnoble.net or call the school at (260) 347-1354. If I am not available, please feel free to speak with Mrs. Leasure.
We appreciate the open communication regarding Covid. We are in this together! Thank you for helping us to keep the students and staff healthy and safe!!!
MANY STUDENTS HAVE BEEN COMING TO SCHOOL WITHOUT MASKS LATELY. PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILDREN TO REMEMBER TO GRAB THEIR MASKS BEFORE WALKING OUT THE DOOR, MAKE IT A PART OF THEIR NORMAL MORNING ROUTINE. THE SCHOOL DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH MASKS TO HAND OUT 50+ EACH DAY. WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THIS!!!!
Please collect Box Tops and send into school in a baggie or join the online Box Top App and scan your receipts
