Corona High School - A Tradition of Excellence Since 1896
And we're off...
As we wrap up our second week of the 2019-20 school year, I am proud to say that we've had a great start! As the administration team has been visiting classrooms daily we continue to see great things happening in regards to teaching and learning. Last year we kicked off our new Aviation Pathway, and this year we started with our newest pathway: Digital Photography. We are also welcoming a new cohort of Dual Language Immerssion students as we are into our second year of DLI. Our non-league competitions have started for our fall sports as an indicator that we are officially off and running and into the full swing of this exciting new year!
I hope to see you here on Wednesday, August 28th at 5:00 pm in our Performing Arts Center for our first PTSA meeting of the year to get our Back-to-School Night festivities going. PTSA will be followed immediately by my Principal's Welcome presentation at 5:30, also in the PAC. Classroom visits will begin at 6:00 pm and conclude at 7:45. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet your student's teachers and hear more about some of the great things happening at Corona High School!
And finally, I cannot stress this point enough: I highly encourage both you and your student to reach out to our teachers and other staff members (including the entire administration team) as soon as you realize that you need some additional support or simply have questions. Although it's early in the year, time sure does fly and the end of the semester will be fast approaching. There is nothing we want more than the success of ALL our students and communication is key to ensure this is achieved.
PROUD Principal,
Antonio Gonzalez, Ed.D.

AVID
As the year gets going, our AVID students are continuing their great collaboration to ensure their success. AVID Seniors worked with their Freshmen buddies last Friday to assist them in transitioning to high school. This is very important because it provides our freshmen another layer of support. Also, La Sierra Criminal Justice visited our seniors on Augst 21st to assist them with their first college applications! It's going to be a great year in AVID!

Our first trip will be Neptune Olympics on the beautiful beach at Coronado Island where competition includes boat races in the bay, physical fitness on the beach, Search and Rescue, water survival, and sandcastle building. Our finest cadets will compete against various other ROTC units throughout Southern California, having fun and making friends who share a common interest.
