A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
Rye Elementary School is presently registering Kindergarten and Grade 1 (new students entering RES only) students for the 2023-2024 school year. Our Kindergarten program is a full day program. It is important that all students register so that we can plan classes for next year. We are already in the planning and budgeting process so please register right away.
You can register at:
https://sau50.powerschool.com/public/formbuilder/form.html?formid=2327135.
Once approved, you will receive instructions on how register for Power School and complete
forms online.
Please register early. Details are online at the RES webpage. http://res.sau50.org/
Students chronological age will be age 5 to enter kindergarten or age 6 to enter Grade 1
on or before September 30 of the year the student plans to enter school. There will be Kindergarten Orientation information announced in the spring, as well as details regarding kindergarten screening.
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts

BUDGET:
Matt Curtin School Board chair presented to the last PTA meeting and shared a wealth of information about the upcoming School Board budget voting. He made a wonderful powerpoint I am sharing with you so you can be informed when voting on March 14th! And you can share with your non school friends too! There are some very important warrant articles to take note of for the future of our school community. Feb 7th is when warrant articles (including the proposed budget) can be amended based on a vote of those in the room so it is good to have parents and supporters attend this, Then most importantly vote on March 14th! ( see attached powerpoint)
SURVEY:
We put together a survey around our golf tournament fundraiser and would like anyone who participated to weigh in on their experience. If you did not but have some thoughts around fundraising events, we welcome that too! We are just looking to get a consensus of the event for future fundraisers! Thank you!
NEXT MEETING:
Please note we have moved our February PTA meeting from the 7th to Monday the 6th so that members can be present at the School District Deliberative Session at RJH @ 6:30.

PICTURE HIGHLIGHTS: BEING THANKFUL
BOWLING!
Students in grades K - 4 participate in a "Learn to Bowl" program in Physical Education class. The program and equipment are from Bowl - O - Rama. The skills that the students are taught are rolling a ball at a target using the three step approach, stepping with the opposite foot, teamwork, cooperation and scoring. The older students focus more on terms of the game (strike, spare, headpin, frame etc.) and on Friday grades 3 and 4 will participate in a field trip to the Bowl - O - Rama as a culminating activity. This trip is completely paid for by the Bowl - O - Rama to promote this lifetime activity!
THANK YOU BOWL - O - RAMA!

Notes
- We hope you are enjoying 2023 this far! As we plan the rest of the school year, I would like to plan an evening of reflection and conversation with families. The title of this discussion will be "RES 101." During this time, I will plan to share with you the accomplishments of the year, thus far, as well as educate families on our "next steps" and common language we use at school each day. I would LOVE to have some feedback on topics you might find helpful. I want to cover as much as possible and know there might be questions and education that might be covered if I know your questions ahead of time. Thank you for your consideration!
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend lunch with your child, starting January 17 (Tuesday-Thursday).
