A Note from Mrs. Malin...
There are many ways we communicate with you! Be sure to check your child's folder each day and sign up for your teacher's Class Dojo! Other ways we communicate include our Facebook page, Instagram page, phone and text messaging system, and our web page. Should you have any questions or concerns during this school year, I encourage you to please contact your child's teacher first. If unresolved, then please contact me.
I encourage you to be involved this school year, especially with our PTA! Our PTA does so much for our students and our school, but it takes lots of help. When there are many helpers, the work is divided and easy to do! Most importantly, the work impacts EVERY student at London Elementary! The first meeting of the year is Thursday, August 22nd. Our president, Leslie Ridgway, leads the meetings and keeps our meetings focused and efficient. I hope you will join us!
Changes for the 2019-2020 School Year
- Several staff changes took place this year. Mrs. Tallon moved to 3rd grade. Mrs. Blaney moved to 1st grade. Haley Dollar and Taylor Wade joined us as our new kindergarten teachers. Our new school resource officer is Officer Nathan Holland.
- Students have two recesses every day! Our first recess takes place before lunch. Our second recess takes place in the afternoon.
- Lunch now takes place after our first recess. We have already seen our students eating more and making a better transition back to learning for the second half of the day. We have water, in addition to milk and juice, in the cafeteria for students to drink with their lunch.
- Look for a new and improved Adventure Kids after school program to start up after Labor Day. This is a program for London students in our gym from 3:30-6:00 every day. If you need after school care, this is the place for them! More details will be sent home when the new program is ready to be launched.
Big Attendance Changes!
Student success goes hand in hand with good attendance. Missing any part of the school day negatively impacts your child and their learning. Any absence, regardless of the reason, is lost instructional time.
NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students are only allowed to miss 10 school days PER YEAR, regardless of the reason. There are no longer excused or unexcused absences.
It is important to be at school every day so that when an unexpected contagious illness occurs or an appointment that can only be scheduled at certain times must be attended, there are days when your child can stay home or attend the appointment. When your child is absent, it is your responsibility to notify the school office by note or phone call within one school day as to the reason your child is not at school. Please submit medical notes if attending appointments. These contacts and notes do not excuse absences but will be documented. We will notify you when your child has reached 5 absences for the year and encourage you to keep track of absences at home as well. If you have any questions, please call the office and talk to Mrs. Rychelle, our student data clerk.
