Greetings TVMS families
The Spring Music Concert Series was a great success for our music department. As a whole, the students performed well and demonstrated growth between the fall and spring semesters. The spring theater production of Make It Mystery! was also a great success. Kudos to the cast and crew that was directed by our theater teacher, Ms. Lemen!
May is AAPI (Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month ) and Mental Health Awareness Month. Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).
The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.
Several of our staff members have planned lessons and other meaningful ways to honor and celebrate this month.
We are also looking forward to celebrating our staff members this upcoming week during Teacher Appreciation week. I would like to extend my appreciation to the PTSA and families who contributed to the wonderful things we have planned for our staff.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs. Denise Young, Principal

Families Must Register by June 1st for 2023-2024 Bus Service
Per Board of Education Policy 5200 Student Transportation, families whose students are eligible for bus transportation are required to register through HCPSS Connect Synergy to receive bus service for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This new registration process will take place annually to help the HCPSS Office of Student Transportation plan for more accurate student ridership and to make routes more efficient. Registration for 2023-2024 bus service is open now through June 1.
Please note, families who reside in non-transportation areas are not eligible for bus transportation and do not need to take any action. Find the new non-transportation areas for your school online. Additionally, students who receive transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan do not need to register.
Families who need assistance with the registration process should reach out to their child’s school.
Bus routes for the 2023-2024 school year, along with specific school start times, will be finalized in August, prior to the start of school. More information is available online.

Thanks for your support.
Important Immunization Requirements for 2023-2024 School Year - 7th Grade Students
Effective the first day of school for the 2023-2024 school year, 1 dose of Tdap vaccine and 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) are required by the state of Maryland for all students entering grade 7. Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the Health Room may not have the updated immunization record. Please contact your student’s doctor and send or fax an updated copy of your student’s immunizations to the Health Room or schedule an appointment to have your student receive these immunizations. Our fax number is 443-973-5510. The Health Department provides immunization opportunities for kids who are not up-to-date on school-required vaccinations. Call the Health Department at 410-313-7500 for more information and to schedule a vaccination appointment for your child.
If you have further questions, please email Cheryl Harris, TVMS School Nurse, at cheryl_harris@hcpss.org.

CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Student and Parent Handbook
The 2022-2023 Student and Parent Handbook is now available on the HCPSS website. This resource is helpful for navigating the school year and includes information about HCPSS practices, policies and services available to support and enrich learning. A printed version of the handbook is no longer provided.
Cell Phone Expectations
Students are not permitted to use their personal technology devices (phones) during school time, including lunch and hallway transitions. This is in accordance with the Board of Education Policy 8080. If a student is seen with their device they will be expected to put it away immediately. If chronic issues persist, disciplinary actions may be implemented in alignment with the HCPSS Code of Conduct.
To support this, please refrain from calling or texting your child during school hours. If you need to get a message to them or contact them, please call the Front Office at 410-313-8711
Outside Food Expectations
Food delivery services (i.e. Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.) are not allowed. Delivery will be refused as we do not have the capability to process this during the school day. If a parent would like to bring their child’s lunch to the school, we ask that you do so prior to the start of your child’s lunch shift. Parents will need to leave the lunch with our Front Office staff.
Family File
It is mandatory that all parents/ guardians verify and/ or update emergency information for each child each school year. Updating this information provides us with the most current emergency contact information, and also ensures that you are receiving important information and updates for HCPSS and TVMS. Log in to HCPSS Connect, select the More Options tab on the left and then select Family File in the center column.
