All About Colonial America in 3rd Grade
Third grade is learning all about Colonial America during Language Arts. This week we learned about Captain John Smith, Pocahontas, the settling of Jamestown, and Roanoke Island. Students are reading about the content and answering questions about what they read by looking back at the text. We also have a part of language arts where students are taking notes and listening to different read-a-louds about Colonial America. We will continue to learn about the three different regions - New England, Middle Atlantic, and Southern as we discover more about colonial life. In math, we finished up a graphing unit and learned how to show and read data in bar graphs, picture graphs, and line plots. In Twig science, we just started a new module called “Weather Warning HQ”. Students are becoming experts in weather and climate by using weather tools, examining weather and climate data, and making observations. The question they are trying to answer is “What is the weather like around the world?” As you can see, we have lots of learning going on in third grade!
