Get a Jump Start on Planning:
We look forward to seeing you this summer during Together We Learn (TWL). If you'd like to get a head start diving into curriculum preparations for the 22-23 school year, we invite you to add your grade level HMH texts to your summer reading list and utilize the updated Unpacking the Module planning tool below to prepare for the upcoming year. This tool includes many of the components from the HMH Unpacking the Text Protocol, but has been expanded to plan writing and foundational skills instruction. Look for this tool to be featured in the grade-level planning sessions during TWL.
You can also revisit any of the professional learning opportunities offered during the 21-22 school year. Check out the Elementary ELA PD Hub and/or revisit Early Release Day content.
New Resource:
Thank you for providing feedback about the Elementary Learning Network. As requested, we have provided an Elementary ELA ELN Resource Guide that will provide an overview of the contents within each page on the ELA network. Check out this ELN Screencast to see some of these resources along with some new additions highlighted!
Tier 2 and Tier 3 Resources:
For an in-depth overview of the updated ELA MTSS Tools and Resources page and the new Tier 2 Resource Map for Literacy, you will want to check out this screencast. This resource will be good for members of all three school teams- PLC, SLT, and SIT.

Zearn Summer Series Update
Thank you for all of the emails and questions regarding the Zearn Summer Series. For the Zearn Summer Series, you will make the recommended assignments just like always, a link on how to make Zearn assignments has been included below. Also included below is the link to the recommended mission(s) for your grade level. These recommendations are for a student's current grade level. Please do not assign missions for modules/missions students will be working in next school year. We recognize that students may have already completed the recommended mission(s) for your grade level; however, reviewing and completing the mission again this summer will give students a 2nd dose and will help to prevent the "summer slide". If more than one mission was recommended for your grade level, please assign the first recommended mission prior to leaving for Summer Break. Zearn intentionally recommended two consecutive missions so it would move students on without teachers having to make assignments after they leave for the summer. Please note, district will be running a summer challenge where students can win prizes for completing summer lessons so it is important that they know how to access Zearn and that their lesson already be changed to the first in the summer series. Parents will be contacted about this over the summer.

Science
THANK YOU for encouraging, supporting and guiding our youngest scientists and engineers as they explored their world through science this year!
Participants in the TWL sessions will experience instructional strategies and practices that help bring the student facing courses to life for our youngest scientists. They will experience a
model lesson from the SFC as a learner and debrief the strategies used to encourage curiosity and collaboration among students as they explore science. New curriculum updates will also be shared.
Pasco Investigates Science kits for 3-5th Grade have ARRIVED!!!!
The Pasco Science team is excited to share that we have purchased 13 science kits for each elementary school. The Pasco Investigates kits will provide students the opportunity to explore annually assessed science standards to deepen their understanding and provide opportunities to engage in hands-on science. Ten of the thirteen kits have been packaged and are being delivered by the warehouse. The remaining three kits will be labeled and shipped as soon as we receive them. The boxes are labeled to the attention of your school’s RMA so they may be added to your inventory. We will be hosting professional learning opportunities at several school sites on August 4th for teachers to learn about the kits and the supporting materials. A mini-session will also be available at TWL in July. Additional information on the Pasco Investigates PD sessions will be provided in the coming weeks. The Pasco Investigates kits are being added to the student-facing courses and curriculum maps. The resources for each kit will include a materials list, teacher’s guide, student investigation journal page, facilitation grid and a video launch. These activities will also include a performance or writing task that can be used in the elaborate phase of the 5E instructional cycle. This information was shared with Administrators in this weeks OLL communication.
We are looking for coaches and rockstar science teachers who want to help to develop the resources to support the kits as well as facilitate the August 4th PD. The Pasco Investigates team will begin their work in June virtually and meet at the District office July 18-20th to prepare for the August 4th training. This work will include a stipend paid via curriculum contract. We will have 4 sites for training on August 4th. I would love to have 8 people so that each of the site has two facilitators for August 4th. Email Lesley Kirkley at lwade@pasco.k12.fl.us if you are interested.
