RVUSD Parent Update

Creating and planning for a Hybrid/In Person Learning Model was a big task: staff and parents have made this a highly successful program- THANK YOU for helping us with this first gigantic step.

The In Person Learning Task Force met again on Wednesday and confirmed the need to move to more In Person Learning before the end of the school year.

Making another change to expand this model is also a big task and with the help of our staff and families, we can begin to get our students back to campus for more In Person Learning.

Staff and families will need to make another set of adjustments in their lives. Patience, kindness and understanding will help our school communities make this transition smoothly and put the District on track to return to full In Person Learning and full instructional minutes in the 2021-22 school year.

Now that health and safety guidelines permit it, we are happy to announce that starting May 3rd, RVUSD will be reopening to more In Person Learning.

• RVUSD Elementary Schools (TK-6th grade) plan to go to a 5 day a week, 4 hours a day in the morning (no lunch period) model. Students may have a snack on campus as part of their recess and outdoor time.
• For those who need to stay in Distance Learning at the Elementary Level, the instructional plan will be different for the last few weeks of school than what they have been experiencing. We will be communicating next week with details. We highly encourage families to send their students back to In Person Learning if at all possible.
• The more specialized programs at RVP and RVCS Middle School will be on different schedules and are currently being designed.
• RVCS will be sending more information out to parents early next week
  

On Tuesday, April 13, the Board of Education will be adopting this start date and the opening of our programs to more In Person Learning.

In addition we will be having a spanish translator as part of our Board Meetings. Please see the video below for directions. We will also be prompting families, who are interested, at the start of the meeting.

It has been a long, tough year for our students, families and staff. We have experienced isolation, anxiety and uncertainty. It is time to begin to reconnect as a community! Please join us on April 27th at 6pm via Zoom for our community forum: How to Create a Community of Belonging. This event will be hosted by Epoch Education as we learn to use compassionate dialogue to create inclusive communities. This is our first community conversation centered around ongoing support of student equity in the Rincon Valley Union School District. A Spanish translator will also be present.
