PHS Media Center

This is the periodic media center newsletter of the Plainfield High School. It contains information that students and parents may find helpful and is the primary means of communication about what is happening in the media center.

• Hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
• Student Technology HelpDesk located in media center (during class periods 2, 3, 5, 6 & 7)
• Book/Magazine Checkouts - 3 weeks
• Student printer/copier located in the media center
• Media Center Website - research databases, library catalog, ebooks, Indianapolis Star, USA Today, magazines and online resources
• Reading Club
• MakerSpaces Club
• Library book overdues are sent weekly via email to both students and parents.

Students and teachers can search the high school library catalog. Students and teachers also have access to ebooks and audiobooks through the PHS library catalog.

Computer/Laptop Instructions:

1. Go to the Plainfield SSO Portal - https://sso.plainfield.k12.in.us/
2. Sign in using your username and password (same login for signing on to your computer)
3. Click on Destiny (Follett-Destiny)
4. Search title, author or genre
5. Happy reading!

Books are returned automatically after 3 weeks.

The Plainfield High School Reading Club will be booktalking books the students have read. We will also be discussing the books, One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus and Scythe by Neal Shusterman on Wednesday, March 2th. The Reading Club meets during SMART - Club A Days.

The Plainfield High School MakerSpaces Club will meet once in January, February, and April during Club B Days. In January we will be creating Memes and Valentine's Day cards. Then in February, we will continue to work on our Valentine's Day cards. Our final meeting in April will be building with Legos and playing board games.

Lael DuBois is a certified School Librarian / Library Media Specialist (grades K-12) who has been the media specialist / school librarian at Plainfield High School for 13 years. Prior to that, she was the school librarian at Pike High School and Pike Freshman Center. She is currently in her 25th year of teaching.
