A Message from the Administrative Team
Greenwood Students and Families:
The second annual Greenwood Spring Showcase will occur on Thursday, March 30 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. This event will “showcase” student projects, performances, and fine art displays as a way to celebrate the talented students at Greenwood. This concept is similar to the old-fashioned open house. We will have performances, demonstrations, and “showcase” the wonderful talents of our students and teachers. Classrooms will be open with work displayed. Listed below are a few examples that will be “showcased” at this event:
· The Spanish Department will be hosting the Bodega in room 307.
· The Spring Book Fair will be displayed and open for purchases in the Event Center.
· Music and talent performances from Band and Choir students. Approximately 31 students will perform.
· Mr. Duff’s computer science students will be conducting robotic demonstrations.
· Our Speech & Debate students giving speeches – Dorian Khoshyomn, Zach Wehrenberg, and Jamie Alford.

Teacher Spotlight: Timothy Pfeil By: Alexandru Curchi
Mr. Pfeil started teaching at Greenwood in 2010. He has been here for 13 years. He went to St. Charles West High School (Class of 2002) before attending the University of Missouri, where he graduated in 2006 with a history and philosophy degree. He spent 3 years in Washington D.C. before returning to Missouri State University, where he earned a master’s degree in teaching (2011).
In January 2009, Mr. Pfeil decided to become a teacher because he was not satisfied with the job that he had at that time; he knew he had to do something different. Mr. Pfeil always wanted to do something where he had the opportunity to help others, and he loves the politics and history, so he decided to help people by teaching what he loves.
Mr. Pfeil enjoys hanging out with his 2 dogs, reading books, doing yard work, and cooking. His favorite things to do, however, are spending time with his family and making backyard campfires. Mr. Pfeil is a beloved teacher, and Greenwood is lucky to have him!
New Audiobooks Added to the Haseltine Library
Haseltine Library received funding from the Greenwood Parent Association to purchase over a dozen new Playaway audiobooks. The Playaway brand is a portable device that allows the user to listen to the story. The items purchased include popular children’s titles from the series Wings of Fire and Keeper of the Lost Cities.
Haseltine Library has been expanding the audiobook collection because listening to a story can expose the user to new vocabulary, as well as strengthen comprehension skills.
Haseltine now hasover 50 Playaway titles available for check out. Thanks again to the GPA for their support!
