Blue Hills News

Dear Blue Hills Families,
It is hard to believe that another school year is upon us! This summer has seen a lot of activity on campus, with Discovery Days Camp running for many of our incoming 9th graders, athletics back in full swing, and a freshly sealed and re-lined parking lot with much needed drains and curbing being replaced as well.
Yesterday, we had our opening kickoff for faculty and staff. A special thanks to the Boosters for providing and serving a great lunch!! We had a productive days of meetings and preparation as we get ready for over 920 students to enter Blue Hills next week.
Today, we welcomed new 9th grade and new 10th grade students for an orientation morning. If you did not receive your chromebook today, do not worry! You will receive it early next week. Please make sure you complete the emergency information registration (link is below), which includes a sign-off of the Parent-Student Handbook and the Acceptable Use Policy (this is in the Handbook). Students may not receive a chromebook until this is complete.
Each Thursday - holidays excepted - I do my best to send out a weekly update called "Blue Hills News" to all faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians. We post this to the website and blast it out on our social media as well. The hope is to keep everyone informed of what is happening at BHR, highlight some of our students and faculty, and relay important information. Please prioritize opening and reading this weekly communication.
In my opening of school letter, I relayed some important information about registration and emergency contacts. Please complete the SY 2022-2023 Mandatory Registration & Student Emergency/Contact Information on Family ID. This is required of all students each year, and includes the Parent-Student Handbook. This helps us keep your emergency contact information up to date in our system.
As you know, school reopens on September 6, 2022 for all students. You can find bus routes on the website or on FamilyID; bus registration is required, though buses are free for all students. Students are allowed in the building at 7:40 a.m. Students who require breakfast or who are dropped off may enter the building after 7:00 a.m.
This year, we are fortunate to be able to continue the free breakfast and lunch program. However, it is critical that you still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2022-2023 school year. This application will be available shortly. This allows us to establish eligibility for other benefits (such as P-EBT) more effectively.
In my opening letter, I also reminded everyone to focus on making a great start to the year a priority. This means:
Arriving to school on time; having excellent attendance
Paying attention in class and vocational programs
Wearing school-appropriate clothing (uniforms in vocational programs; professionally accepted attire in academic classes)
Being prepared for each day; homework done, materials in hand, ready to learn
We look forward to welcoming you back next week as we kick off another great year at Blue Hills. Enjoy Labor Day weekend and see you on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Zini
