Kindergarten: Hi Kindergarten Family, next week we will be focusing on Comparing and Contrasting stories being read. We also will be identifying similarities and differences between two stories. Stories will be related to Valentines and Dental Health. In Math we will be focusing on numbers 11 to 20. We will also learn about some Black History facts. Please continue to work with your child on sight words, counting to 100. Please remember that Monday, February 12, 2024. The students are allowed to dress as a 100 year old person. Thank you for all you do for our students at WPS.

First Grade: Hello from First Grade! Next week, we’ll be exploring different types of texts, specifically fiction vs. nonfiction. In math, we’ll be comparing two-digit numbers. We will also be learning about various people, in Black History, who have helped to shape the world. Please complete homework packets weekly, as well as study sight words and read nightly!

Second Grade: Greetings from Second Grade! Next week we will continue to identify the author’s main purpose for writing information text. We will continue to practice adding and subtracting three-digit numbers. We will also continue to learn about various people, in Black History, who have helped to shape our American culture. Please continue to read for at least 20 minutes each night and complete the weekly homework packet. Please keep in mind that if your child is doing a project for our Black History Program Display it must be completed and turned in by Monday, February 19, 2024.

Music: Students will be singing songs about Valentine’s Day, the “100th Day of School”, Black History Month, and Dental Health Month! We eagerly anticipate Riverside Middle School students coming to WPS. They will share the Chinese New Year Dragon which they are creating. We have been learning about China in all the Resource Classes! Our “Talent Show” will be on the night of the February 20th PTA.

Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.

Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children to get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

The Friendly Dental Van will be returning to WPS on Wednesday February 14, 2024. This visit will be to complete care on those students that required more treatment as well as to provide the initial treatment to those students that registered and have not been seen.
