Anne Arundel County 4-H Happenings
April 2024
Hello 4-H Families
Well, March didn't exactly come 'in like a lion, out like a lamb' but the signs of spring abound. And if April showers do, in fact, bring May flowers, we are set for a bountiful, colorful May!
Speaking of Spring weather, please set your calendars to join the University of Maryland Extension, Anne Arundel County office for an enjoyable day 'on the farm' at our first Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic. 4-H has coupled with our wonderful Master Gardener program to celebrate our most valuable assets - our volunteers! We will host plenty of fun activities and food, along with a brief appreciation presentation.
Bowls and Skillathon Contests are underway with camp and fair right behind them. Be sure to check out our scholarships for our young farmers, ag and animal enthusiasts. Returning this year: The Maryland State 4-H Robotics Workshop is being offered for 2 dates (same workshop offered 2 different times). This is a fantastic way to learn more about both the Lego Challenge and the Robotics Engineering Challenge occurring at the Maryland State Fair!
One of our biggest 4-H Fundraisers - $4 for 4-H is on April 4th, 2024 (Yes, all those 4's are on purpose). Please share this fundraiser with friends, family, and other possible investors. All the money goes to 4-H, split 50/50 with the State Foundation and our county. Our county uses this money to provide camp scholarships for youth looking to enjoy a fun week in the wilderness (with a few other little human friends 😉).
