Welcome to FHS!
The New Student Counselor meetings will begin at the end of April. We will be contacting you starting April 22nd for your counselor appointment.
All students are assigned a school counselor who will work with them until they graduate. We are here for your academic, personal, and post-secondary planning needs. The counseling department will provide students with guidance on course selection, career and college planning, and navigating the interpersonal challenges of high school. We look forward to getting to know students and families!
Course Selection Process
Core Academic Classes
New FHS students will have a New Student Counselor Meeting. Meetings will be scheduled for the end of April and on. During your meeting, your school counselor will help advise you regarding your core academic classes. Students, you should be prepared to share information about your most recent classes, academic strengths and challenges, and what you hope to study. Below you will find more information about our leveling and FHS graduation requirements. You are encouraged to explore our Program of Students.
Elective Courses
Elective courses are courses you take in addition to your core academic classes.
The Program of Studies is where you can learn about all of the elective offerings we have at Framingham.
We work hard to create a master schedule that serves all students based on their requests. We strive to give students their first choices, but they may also receive their alternative courses. Please be sure to have at least elective 6 classes that you are interested in taking. Additionally, we will hold an add/drop for the first cycle of classes. Additional changes to your schedule will not be permitted after the add/drop period.
Schedules will be made available to students at the end of August through the Aspen Portal. New students will receive access to the Aspen Portal after August 1st. Instructions for how to Access your Aspen portal will be provided at your New Student Counselor Meeting.

House Model Structure
The FHS House Model includes 4 Houses: Gold House; Green House; Blue House; Silver House. These colors are symbolic as they honor what was once two high schools, Framingham North and Framingham South. Each of the 4 houses will have 1 Vice Principal, 2 School Counselors, 1 Social Worker, and 1 Assistant Office Manager. We also have two academies, the Student Success Academy for students who are exploring different pathways to success at FHS and the Welcome Academy for our newcomers to the English language, school and community. Students and families will work with their House throughout all four years of high school. This will help foster supportive relationships and improve the capacity for personalized post-secondary planning. We also hope it will make our big school, feel small. We also have a college and career counselor, Ms. Erikson, who works to support students in the college process. Students are divided by House according to their last name. Please visit the school counseling website for more information and to find your counselor.
