Spring Break Reminder
There is no student attendance from March 25 through April 1.
Purple Up Day - April 15
We want to recognize our military families for the safety that they provide us on a daily basis as well as recognizing that the life of a military kid is a blend of unique adventures and challenges. Oak Grove is looking to celebrate our Military families with our second annual Purple Up Day breakfast on April 15. If you’re a Military family, please complete THIS form by March 22. More details to come.
IAR Testing
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), a state-mandated assessment for 3rd through 8th-grade students, will take place this year on April 11, 12, and 16 and makeup testing will be on April 17-19.
Students will need working headphones and a charged iPad/laptop
Students may not have cell phones, Apple watches, etc. during the testing periods
Students should eat a good breakfast and have a good night’s sleep
Solar Eclipse - April 8
On April 8, 2024, we will have the opportunity to experience one of nature’s grandest spectacles: a solar eclipse. All students will have the opportunity to observe the eclipse under the supervision of staff. Read this letter for details and information about opting your child(ren) out of this experience, if you choose.
Band News
There will be no morning band rehearsal this Thursday or Friday, 3/21 and 3/22. Have a wonderful Spring Break.

Parent Session - Gifted Services
Join us virtually on April 29 from 6:30 - 7:30 pm to learn about services for gifted learners and updates to our talented & gifted courses offered in grades 4-8. This session is applicable to families of students of all ages. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here. A Google Meet link will be shared closer to the date.
Oak Grove Summer Camp
Summer Camp classes will be offered at Oak Grove by several OG teachers in June and July. Go to the RevTrak online store and select Student Summer Camps to register. The deadline for registration is April 30.
Variety Show audition sign-ups are this Tuesday and Wednesday for 5th-8th graders in the JH Cafe during lunch. There will be one more opportunity to sign up after Spring Break. Auditions will be held on April 17 and 18. See the PTO website for more information. The PTO’s annual Variety Show “OGPalooza” will be May 10 at 4:30 and 7:00 pm.
Antioch Pizza Fundraiser Night is this Thursday, March 21 - you’ll be busy prepping for Spring Break so don’t cook! Dine-in, carry-out, or delivery from Antioch Pizza will benefit the PTO (you MUST mention OGS). Click HERE for more details.
Committee Chairs are needed for the Elementary Book Fair, Family Fest, Girl & Guest Dance, Winter Market, and Stepping Up To 6th Grade. Click HERE for more information and contact Beth Zender or Elizabeth O'Neill to share your interest.
Kindergarten-1st Grade Social is happening at Ultimate Ninjas on April 5 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Sign your student up HERE.
Earth Day is next month. Show your OGS pride and join us on Saturday, April 20 between 10:00 - 11:30 am to clean up the school grounds. We’ll also “chalk the walk” with Earth-friendly messages.
PTO Social 6th and 7th grade students are invited to SkyZone on Thursday, April 25, from 1:00 - 2:30 pm for a fun afternoon of jumping during early release. This event is limited to 200 students and a designated adult must remain on site (this can be one adult for a group of students). Water and a snack will be provided after the event. Please complete the sign-up sheet and the SkyZone Waiver for your student. The students are given jump socks at the event. Please reach out to Andrea Parks with any questions.
